Insane camber!

holy mother of all things unholy WTF

besides for obvious things like uneven tire wear, bad gas milage, damage done to the rims, ect...
what were they thinking? i wouldn't even want to see that on a show car thats just sitting

VIP status has been around for awhile. Man some of you people have no idea whats going on in JDM land because you have your faces so far up DSM's asses. LOL Now that is a quite intense example of VIP, but I'm doing a much much lighter version of it on the DSM eventually. I'm gonna run 18X9 +20ish and run an ever so slight stretch.

Hmm, Dont hate it, not gonna do it. Im happy to see unique ideas. So tired of seeing the same thing over and over again like whats going on in the dsm world.
Dsmtuners hate change.

Exactly why I cannot stand half of these people. Half of the people that drive ugly paintless rust buckets on here are the first ones to hate on everything that is nicer than theirs.

I wouldn't go to the extremes that some do on VIP cars, but I love the styling and how unique most of them are.

I want to know how long his axles or CV joints are gonna last driving with them at that angle.

Thats what i said. i agree it looks interesting. i'm not one of those people that look at something different and blah blah blah its bad. that's retarded. but i was taught if it ain't broke don't fix it. Some may say why modify a car at all, it's not broke. But i see it like it is broke. it may function but it is restricted. Same goes with the camber here. it isn't broke, and given putting a camber kit on won't mean it won't function. But why? it may not be broke now but after a few kilometers or so... it may be. why harm something and give yourself a restriction? Seriously. Most people want to get the most for their buck at the gas pump, you're throwing money down the drain. Why do you think they do alignments at the body shop? Why pay more for your tires by purposely giving it uneven tire wear meaning you need to pay even more on your tires. Why risk bending, cracking, or just simply damaging your rims like that? the Video shows the sparks flying from the rim hitting the pavement. All your doing is more harm than good on your car. Do you think this will help you gain speed or lose speed while at the track? Simple aerodynamics tell me you will lose speed. How easy will it be to drive in city around turns? i would imagine that looks harder than driving a 90 degree turn in a car with no power steering. What happens when you hit a pot hole or a bump and throw out your axel or a cv joint? What happens when you get a simple flat tire which i would imagine would be pretty eminent by doing this. With that flat tire how hard would it be to be able to control your car? Little things like this have to be thought about before doing something outrages like this. A few DSMers always talk about how much of a money pit their car is. Why do we need to feed that fire and throw more money into it than needs to be or even give them another reason to complain about our money pits? Seriously guys. think for a minute.

It seems most people don't even know about this certain car culture. That car is on airbags and the reason for the camber and tire stretch is allow extremely wide wheels. It's usually a bragging point, just we like we all compare turbo sizes, they do so with wheel width.

Why that guy is driving around on the highway with the car that low, I have no clue. Showing off maybe?

@nothingfiction
I understand your point but heres my problem. Many cars on tuners will never see the track so talking about track performance isnt relevant. As for damaging rims, joints, wasting money etc. Thats what most of us are doing. The stock rims arnt broke, then we throw these 17s+ with low pros and dent rims. Then you drop your ride, get tire rub, mess up your undercarriage etc. Shoot, even throwing these big turbos on our car is messing with the internals. I like ideas that I would never think to do, and this is sure one of them.

If you think thats cool, go buy a VW and hang out on their boards. They appreciate h0m0 stuff like that.

We like performance in the DSM community first and foremost. Having a clean car is a bonus and there is nothing cool or clean looking about that retarded video. Don't worry we will all be sure to laugh at you when ruin your car with gayness

i agree with TW. We are the DSM community. we like form and function. This site is about performance over appearance. There's other sites that go more into modifying your dsm for appearances. But this one isn't it. Over half the people here don't even admit to liking bodykits for one reason or another (usually either the fitment or damage done to cheap fiberglass, or even the "stock is best", or the "bodykits don't help you any with your aerodynamics") Given i do not agree with this. i don't care, i still have an open mind and would like to get a bodykit myself. But when i do it won't be made out of fiberglass. i appreciate the link and showing me what some people are doing to thier cars. But something like this is best left on an immobile showcar. Just my opinion. Kind of like people with hydraulics who drive around bouncing up and down and left and right. it's ridiculous and serves no function. i appreciate seeing that at a car show but there is no room for that type of idiocy on the open road.

Its completely unsafe period. He should have his car impounded for being a retard and driving it like that. If its a show car then it shouldnt be on the road if thats the type of configuration his shows require. If its on bags then the IDIOT needs to raise the car up and stop risking his and other peoples lives by driving it like that. To each their own on the styles. If it is straight up dangerous then its moronic to do it to a street car. PERIOD.

Just because you don't like something or its not your style doesn't mean its "h0m0." And who cares if we are a dsm community, does that mean we have to hate on everything that doesn't look stock and isn't modded solely on performance? I think not, that is plain closed minded. They are car enthusiasts as well, just in a different way.

I'm in the boat with the people that think this is stupid to do to any street driven car.

But on the flip side it can have performance benefits when you design a car form the ground up to make use of a ridiculous amount of camber. Here is a video of Cal Poly SLO's Formula Hybrid car. Cal Poly SLO Formula Hybrid | Videos | Racecar Engineering The idea behind this is that it allows for extremely low roll centers, and also as the car is inherently not driven very fast it allows for a great deal of corning force to generated by camber thrust instead of slip angle.

It seems to have worked very well for them but I have yet to see the car in person.

i understand what you are saying. But honestly... does anything here that anyone has said really matter? NO. people will like what they like. That's fine by me. But when you do something like the video above on an open road and put yourself or others in possible danger, that's when I have a problem.Would you risk the lives of yourself and or you family or a close friend all because you're trying to be cool? Do you think your cool off camberness is a good reason to drive your car around and possibly get in a car accident? if you do have a blow out what are the odds you will most likely flip your car because your camber is off to begin with? is a car pileup and your own life and the safety of others around you not that important?

That's all i am saying. i don't care what car you have, or what you have done to it. i don't care if you have a lowrider or a bouncer with hydraulics, i don't care if you if you drive around in a beat up car you salvaged from a demo derby. i could care less if you pimp out your tractor and take that on the highway cruising a whopping 50 Km/h. You still need to be safe about the drivers around you. While were at it let's allow semi drivers to cruise around with the back door open. a few things flying into oncoming traffic never hurt anybody right? Or better yet, lets chain a bicycle to a truck and see how long the kid can stay on the bike, that should be fun. Let's allow people to legally hood surf on the roof of our cars too. it builds character, right?

There is a time and place for everything. But you think this is cool? that's fine. it would be interesting to see a kit that does this then could put it back to normal like hydraulics do. Pull up somewhere and see a car just chillen there like that. sure that could be cool. But on a highway? Why not pull up to a car with hydraulics and let them bounce a few times on your car too? i mean, it's cool right?

EDIT: nice video. that little go-kart seemed to get around. But did you see how much slippage he had maneuvering around? i loved how he wipes our and almost does that 360. So again. My point still stands clear and with a visual aid of proof. But don't believe me. watch the video.

just..wow. That doesnt even look cool...

I should take off my upper balljoints and weld the vertical arms to the body/frame...
Throw on some 355 tires with 13" wide rims and im cool in japan?? Im VIP??

VIP cars are sweet but i think he crossed the line into fugly with camber like that

I, in no way said that is safe or cool to have on a public road. So no need for a lecture on having it be a possible danger on the road. Hell, when I first watched the video I thought... "that can't be safe." And that is something I would never do. But leaving your house every day is also a danger, and you're more likely to be hit by a cars with a hack job suspension civic or stuck throttle Toyota then that car. ROFL

But for the "style" hes going for... not my cup of tea but its unique and different. And I don't feel the need to diss on what hes trying to achieve with his style. And I highly doubt he drives that everyday, or at least I would hope.

Not trying to argue with anyone, since its all personal opinion. So thats just my .02
