Insane amounts of smoke at idle, but nothing while driving it...valve seals?

So my car has been doing this a while and getting worse and worse. It started out as one day i went out to leave, the car was all stock and noticed it was smoking pretty good from start up till about 10 miles away and cleared up. then didnt do it agian for a while. Then started doin it all the time just at start up and idle. as soon as you drive it, it completely clears up. Like even pulling on it on 20psi, not a single bit of smoke. Just at idle. And now its got a maft, 57 trim, open downpipe. I think without the full exhaust its more pronounced now. But like when i pull up to a stop light, it takes about 15 seconds or so and then you can see it start building and the longer it sits idling the worse it gets. And as soon as you drive away it completely clears up. Compression tests shows 170lbs in every hole. Its a 2g piston 1g rod motor. Its burning some coolant too, so i was thinking maybe headgasket or valve stem seals. I know ringlands can be an issue but it doesnt smoke while driving or under boost at all.

And its not the turbo, its a brand new garrett 57 trim. I turbo manifold off cause you can clearly see where oil was dripping out of the #1 exhaust port. And i was right, theres fresh oil caked in the #1 exhaust port. so now its down to head gasket, ringlands, or valve stem seals.

Do a leakdown test. That should tell you if it is the head gasket or rings or so on..

Sounds like valve stem seals. Your compression numbers don't indicate any reason to suspect HG or ring/piston sealing. If wanting more reassurance try to find out if there is oil leaking down the valve stem from up above. Shine a light up into the top of the port or stick your finger up in there.

BTW, there are tools that allow you to remove valve springs/retainers without removing the head. It can save a lot of time and expense if the only thing you want to do is change the stem seals. Let me know if you want more info.

Sounds weird, but would too big of a oil feed line to the turbo be causing this issue. Started thet car with no manifold, and it wasnt smoking at all. But that doesnt explain the oil physicly dripping out of the #1 exhaust port when it was running. The valve stems are dry and clean on the #1 exhaust port. Im Running Valvoline VR1 50wt oil. And the oil feed line is an unrestricted -3 line to a journal bearing Garrett 57trim.

Well...put the manifold and everything back together, just plug'd the oil line from the head to the turbo and didnt let the turbo spin. Started it and no smoke. so i guess i just need to run a restrictor to the turbo.

Well, after putting a restictor on the turbo wth no change, and taking the line off the turbo completely and not letting the turbo spin it was still smoking A LOT! Went ahead and pulled the head and found oil on top of all the pistons, but #1 was the worst. Theres no oil in the charge pipes out the throttle body, but the runnners that meet up with the head had puddle of oil in them, not huge anouns but enough to say their wet, and its the 50wt oil i put in it. So where would that oil be coming from? #1 is the worst but their all wet, in the intake manifold and in the head. All the valve stems look clean and dry.
