Hey guys, I need a little advice. I just picked up a clean gsx for real cheap. The only problem I'm having now is smoking from the exhaust.
Symptoms: On start up, exhaust let's out a nice ploom of smoke blue-ish smoke. Letting it idle for a bit, smoke clears up for the most part. Once car reaches opt temp, the smoke becomes somewhat more visible. When revved in neutral, the car will smoke heavily, but will begin to clear up.
Car is completely stock. Turbo no shaft play, but will be pulling off the o2 housing to check. Looking through the oil cap, the head appears new. Pcv valve hose, has a little oil on the intake manifold nipple if that matters. Oil is located around the header ports as well. Also, noticed oil on the spark plug threads, seemed to be fresh oil came off with a quick wipe. Previous owner did put slightly more oil in the motor than recommended, so I'll be draining that as well and be changing the cheap looking oil filter as well.
TEST & RESULTS: compression test yielded across the board 120-119-120-118. I added oil 20-50 no change to compression. 119,000 miles. I know the motor definitely needs a rebuild, but I've heard of DSMs pushing past these numbers.
Hope you guys could give me some further insight. My previous DSM, along with a friend's,both had similar symptoms and turned out to be valve seals, but just wanted some reassurance since I'll be having a shop do it this time. Thanks for your time.
