Is there anyone that can replace my inout seal in my transmission I love in Louisiana or at least show me how to do it or someone please walk me through it. I really need my car back.

I have a 98 gsx that is leaking from the input shaft seal I thought it was the output seal but I but dye in the transmission oil and took the transfer case off and stated the car. There was a line that ran down both sides of the bell housing and then pools up at the lowest point by the output shaft till it drips out. So I know from reading that the only thing it could be leaking from up there is the input shaft seal.

It's a $9 part, and it's really easy to change. The only problem it you have to take the transmission all the way apart to fix it. Any competent mechanic should be able to fix it.

Ok, now for the second half of this - seals don't usually "just fail." You probably also have a failing input shaft bearing. You should plan on a rebuild. It sucks to hear, but its an old car. There's several shops that can do a trans for you, but the backlog is pretty large.

If you want to tackle it yourself, there are a couple articles on vfaq.com I would also suggest finding a copy of the transmission service manual. You can probably find it by searching google for W5m33.

How can you tell if the bearing is failing?

You can't without looking at it. Input shaft end play isn't a good sign though. You would have to drop the trans to check
Okay I have my trans dropped and I don't see any play is there any way I could have just damaged the seal taking the trans in and out. I've had it in and out like 3 tInes within the last month

It will tell you what kind of endplay you have on the input shaft.
It is adjusted when assembled with shims.
A bearing that is damaged will increase this endplay & can lead to seal failure.
Endplay spec is max of .002" on the input .....

And there you go. Also keep in mind how old these cars are. if you feel lots of endplay you have problems. Even if you dont you still have a bad seal. Dont rule out a crack either. Did you look? You own an older high performance car. Stuff wears out.

No I looked for cracks that would be to easy to fix.

Id like to see a video of that. What you're describing should not be possible. When I say in and out I mean ANY. it would likely only be less than .050 inches so its barely perceptible. If you can feel ANY movement I would say its measurable and you have worn bearings.

Ill get a video in like a hour when I go out to my car
