so i just brought it a week or so ago came today ups and i got it used from the classified section but it didn't have adapter for the maf sensor or filter so i have to buy one also it says its California legal & certified with CARB exemption number or sticker but i don't have the sticker or number :( what should i do about that ? and on their web site says you have to use their air filter supposedly or else you'll get a check engine light :hmm: dont see how it would but i guess LOL i was going to buy the K&N adapter & filter K&N High Flow Filter w/ MAS Adapter Plate (2g DSM) - Modern Automotive Performance

not sure will it work but its worth a try

also looks like I'm missing some brackets not sure if i need them but here is the install on their website with pictures http://www.injen.com/galleries/products/62220111345IS1890-IS1891_03192009.pdf

the maf adapter is easy to find online. you can get it from ebay or from places like extreme psi. you dont have to use injens intake they just do that so you buy from them. At the same time it is nice having matching parts. you can also get just there filter from extremepsi.com

Not trying to be rude, but those Ebay plastic adapters make me want to vomit every time I see one. I dare say they look cheap and ineffective.

The adapter from MAP is much better IMO. The cylinder that the filter bolts to is larger than the MAF itself and the K&N filter is much better than the Ebay ones. It even comes with a gasket for the adapter plate. I use one and I will never use anything ever again. Literally, I can wash the K&N and it will fit onto a 4" pipe for future setups. :p

You can use any filter and maf adapter. I have this on my car and i use a non injen filter. If you dont have the brackets you could make your own following there design. I dont have the brackets and have no issues.

there shouldnt be any brackets that go on it
i hate ebay crap as well but some people dont mind it
i buy 95% of my stuff from extremepsi

yeah i want the filter to match hahaha but a red K&N filter would be a perfect match their injen one cost too much check it out EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts

I'm probably better off buying a K&N

STM and Xpsi for me.

Xpsi intake on it's way for me right now.

I have one thing from mach v tho.

STM HAS A KIT TOO STM: K&N FILTER AND MAS ADAPTER | 2G DSM 95-99 | EVO VIII-IX | 91-99 3000GT

so the bracket is not needed ? that's good then because i think it would be hard to find or copy it

Most auto part stores have the filter adapter in stock.

went to autozone and pep boys today and they have every car part & filter but not for mines

the thing I'm still trying to figure out is where can i get the sticker or number to show that the intake is California legal i guess that's what happens when you buy use stuff LOL brand new is a lot of money but i thought i would save a lot of money buying use stuff to work on my other mods

yeah i buy some stuff private mostly off dsmlink forums though

got to check that out never knew they had a forum

That sucks, oreilly and autozone here in Columbia Mo have them in stock on the shelf.

dose anyone have this intake and how is it performance wise ? i read it's pretty good some say it makes the turbo spool louder and bov louder too i have a 1g bov but i need adapter for that too or a flange LOL then i can use it with the new intake

cool i been wanting upgrade the stock intake for awhile cant wait to install it with the filter but i better hold on to the stock rubber one tho just in case whenever i need to smog again. how is it for gas mileage i heard that air intakes can give you better gas mileage sometimes how is yours ? are you getting good gas mileage ?

California sucks ! never have anything in stock where i live so my best bet is to buy online i guess. i just hate waiting for the package to come in the mail or drop off to me LOL

Have been running it for a while and it will give you the desired results but with that said i ran a ebay intake for a year with same results only reason i changed was because a parts car had the Injen on it.

dnt get k and n the filter wont fit, you will hae to compress it and mess it up, the injen hard pipe is too long

Um, no.

I used the K&N FIPK which is probably the biggest intake available for our cars while using the Injen hard pipe. I didn't have any issues. It might be a tight fit if your intercooler pipes are using the stock route via the hole by the filter.

OP: Stop worrying too much about the CARB sticker, it's not like you'll need it every single day. If you need to smog your car, just take it off and put the stock one back on...takes like 5 minutes.
If you really want a CARB sticker, purchase a NEW K&N FIPK and it comes with the sticker, pricey as hell but it looks nice.
