Is an injen short ram worth it?

I'm just not sure spending 200$ on a short ram is worth it? Supposedly they gain 12hp to your car and sound badass but will it really have much of a noticeable difference? Also, is the filter that comes with an injen good enough? Just hoping someone who has bought one will have some input, i really dont want to do the ebay knockoff route also.

Bought it for $60 used with no filter. I had a Dejon and was really unimpressed. They don't make a Dejon to fit T28 so you have to get oversized one that seals to the turbo with a few layers of silicon pipe. Even with T28 it seemed like that middle loop would migrate.

I have a black non recirculated one for sale which ill let go for cheap :thumb: but its non recirculated, dunno if you would want.

The only difference I noticed was that I could hear the turbo spool noise with it, but then again the turbo was changed the same time the intake was LOL.

Personally I'd never run one of those junk Ebay filters on my car, if you want to purchase the intake tube off Ebay, thats fine but I'd recommend getting a reputable filter, such as K&N. Not really an issue here but I have seen someone destory a $1800 turbo from a crappie Ebay filter (literally sucked it apart & injested the filter)

Depending on your budget, I'd go with dejontool or Forced Performance. My first choice would be FP's intake, its 4", which is huge for a stock turbo (but they do offer a reducer coupler) but it would probably be the only intake you have to buy, as most common "street" turbos have up to 4" inlets.

I origionally had the Injen intake, it made the turbo spool louder & BOV louder as well as adding some power. I ran it for a couple years but then switched to FP's intake when I went with a turbo with a 4" compressor inlet.

There is absolutely NO point in having ANY type of cold air intake, if it's sucking in warm air from the engine bay. That means, you're not gaining any horsepower at all. Even if you did manage a way to get COLD air sucked in, there's no way you'll gain 12 horsepower. A little, but not 12. Might as well put a sticker on your car.

The only thing you'll like about a cold air intake is that you hear the spool better. If your BOV is recirc, you'll hear that more too. That's about it.
