when putting everything back in ....is it easier to put the tranny in first then the engine or ...is it easier to do everything all at once like how i pulled the engine....?

and is copper spray a good idea for mitsu mls headgasket ...?

For me, I think its easier to put the engine in first, and then install the tranny on it. There is less chance of scratching and denting things this way and its the way its done in the dealership. Alot of guys like the junk yard way of pulling both at once, and thats fine if you dont mind having things scraped up (I do). If you are doing it with one person, I would go engine first, bolt it in then just pretend your replacing the tranny and put it in second. Copper spray is not recommended on a head gasket, since the gasket is made to be able to move to make up for the differing expansion rates of the aluminum head versus the iron block.

My personel opinion is to install both at the same time. One reason is because there is only one mount that bolts up to the engine. All I do is put the assembly at an angle and it helps clear better, do to the bracket sticking out of the passenger side.

I personally found it easier to keep both attached, but I have access to 4 point lift's, and what I did was detatch everything, and drop the cross member bar under the engine, put stands under key area's of the tranny, and engine lowered them down with a picker to sit on the stands, then raised the car up. I marked exact spots where the wheels were, and where the stands were, so I could move everything, and then place them exactly back there when I dropped the engine back in, worked perfectly, and not one single scratch. If you dont have a lift, I still say together, just wrap the end of the tranny with a towel, and make sure all bolts are off the engine bay so the towel doesnt get stuck on them, and then cause scratching. Its farely easy to do long as you take your time, and arent being rushed...also place all bolts in a labled bag of some sort...trust me you will be kicking yourself later if you just say," Oh Ill put these bolts here, and these ones here, b/c Ill remember which is which."

Good luck, and have fun, great learn experience.
