My car is having starter issues. It grinds and skips than finaly starts but this morning it is only looping. sounds like a very small air plane engine and wont start. Where is the starter located on a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gst so i can hit it with a hammer

Below the intake manifold. Jack the car up and crawl under the car for best access. If your laying on your back with your feet under the radiator you cant miss it. Although if its spinning at all I doubt the hammer method will help. Thats usually if the brushes are shot and there is a poor path for current. While your under there pull your flywheel/flexplate inspection cover and see if the teeth on the wheel are rounded off. Also make sure the starter mounting bolts are tight.

as maverick said that doesn't work all the time. i guess its worth a shot and now you know where its at so you can replace it:) be sure to disconnect battery terminals before you do.
