Hello, so I just purchased my dream build. Awd gsx the owner lost key, had one made and it won’t work the ignition. He was told by Mitsubishi that it needed worn in anyone familiar with how to make this happen or Atleast how to remove it to put in a new ignition I’m
Dying to get this thing going thanks ahead

It should work if ignition and doors cylinders are the same. Haven’t changed tumblers on a 2g but it’s not too difficult in general. Just have to be careful since they’re spring loaded. Are you able to remove the ignition cylinder?

I used to work at a dealership and there were times when a freshly cut key didn’t work. Most of the time it was the machine and/or the key we made a copy of wasn’t in good shape. That’s why some places won’t make a copy.

My trunk and passenger side cylinders weren’t working. Took them apart and they just had build up so needed a good clean and lube.

You’re not too far from me. If you need help, remove the cylinder and I’ll take a look

Tumbler(s) can be worn also.

Yeah I don’t know, Mitsubishi told him the key needed worn it first and suggested scraping it on the ground etc to wear the freshly cut points down LOL. The ignition cylinder itself can be replaced with the new set if I can get it out but the guy said there is a pin inside there that lets the key work. Said that would have to be drilled out if the key won’t hit that pin correctly. Thanks though
