I seem to be having a bit of stuttering at 3,000 rpms. ive done a bit of research and think that it may be my MSD DIS2. I just bought a 90 talon AWD and it will need a tune for sure but just to safely drive it to storage and to the shop id like to see if anyone has any more info about the bypass plug for the system, where to get one and if i should do use one right now to bring it back to factory. Thanks

Still no info from anyone on here, I've been reading quite a bit and have seen a handful of possible solutions, everything from FPR to plug to wires, I just got the car and it's running incredibly rich and has a harsh stuttering problem about 3,000 rpm. Not sure what my first step should be. Has MSD dis2, just put bpr6es in it and still no change from when I bought it.
Not entirely sure on what's all been done to it but used to have ecm link I believe due to a box of a bunch of spare parts including a v2 chip and palm pilot with it.

Please help on my first couple of steps towards a solution!

Thanks!
Erik

What is your base fuel pressure? Is it correct? Should be 39psi with the hose off i believe on a 1g? If it's too high, or you rev the car and it is too high or too low with the hose on, it's probably bad. If it's original, it's probably bad. These things are 25 years old, it's common for the FPR to be junk. I'd verify that first. Also check to see if any codes are saved in the ECU. That may give you a clue.

After the fuel pressure i'd suggest checking the CAS. You have a 90, so the cas has a pigtail on it, and the wiring on those things can get very brittle and crappy over the years. It's common for them to fail.

After that, i'd check the Coolant temp sensor. Those going bad can do wierd things for your fuel mixture.

All said i'd verify the cas before worrying about your ignition at all because that is driven by the cas.

Tha ks for the response! FPR is working and seems normal at 40. Another idea is my MAFT. It's a 3". Not sure about much more then that. I have the case inside my car but not sure what I should start my settings at. As I said it's a 90 awd with a lot of unknown parts LOL. It has to have bigger injectors and fuel pump because it goes through a rank of gas about every 70 miles LOL. Bigger turbo and basic bolt ons as well.

I've looked up maft threads and get haven't seen one to describe where I should start with my 1G with these bolt ons.

Thanks!!

hmm from what you've described it could be any of those really. Is the fuel pressure 40 with the vacuum line off? It should be lower at idle because of the vacuum. At70 miles a tank something is way off. Maybe try a different maf? You really need a wideband to set the MAFT up.

Check what color or numbers or logos are on the injectors their probably really big and does the car blow black smoke
