420A idle revs up on start

i have a 1991 gs 2.0l dohc and when im at idle in park or neutral my rpms rev up and down when i bought the car the guy said he replaced the fuel pressure reg but instaled the turbo one and said that was the problem but while he was saying that he pointed to the camshaft angle sensor (i dout that has anything to do wit the idle but wanted to put that in there just incase) do you guys thing those things could be the problem or do you think i should just replace the IAC

So my car doesnt rev up and down, it just tries to hit rev limiter as soon as i start it, am i looking at a stuck injector or whats my issue? Its a 96 2.0 Eagle Talon. I have no idea what my problem could be as this is my first DSM. Any help is welcome!

You should start a new thread, this is 11 years old. BUT....you need to make sure that your Throttle body is completely closed. Physically go out and make sure by looking in it, at it, however you can verify it. Also you will want to check how tight the accelerator cable is. It should have a little slack in it and not be tight. Then start up a new thread for the issue as you go along. We can all try to diagnose it. Do you have any way to tune/log the car while it is running or trying to start (DSMLink or any tuning software)?

I actually figured it out earlier today, i had a massive vacuum leak from the block side of rhe intake, the gasket had completely deteriorated and just come apart, and do you suggest getting tuning software that runs constantly? I have the 2.0 NA so i didnt think having a datalogger and all that stuff would be massively important, but im also new to the DSM world so any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

No I think you have it all under control now.
On N/A applications I would talk to the N/A Wiseman @VelocitàPaola and @BLACK'98DSM as they are well versed on that plarform.

You're looking for tuning software for the 420a? You need a standalone, like Megasquirt.

The stock ecu can't be programmed. But with an AFR gauge, you can modify your engine accordingly and make a little more power. But you'll never unleash the full potential withoug a Megasquirt to advance your timing and set base values.
