i was just told by a friend my setup was junk.

have to install:
TD06 20G, fidenza flywheel, act 2600 6 puck, and a slew of other mods, but those where the parts that i was told where sub par. should i get rid of them? ive done the homework and not heard anything bad about any of them, but his comment made me worry a little, and he said something about the 99 7 bolt was the best 4g63 built. i always thought the 6 bolts where better, but am i wrong?
 
i just wanted to add: crankwalk is not unheard of in 6 bolts 4g63Ts. It isn't as common as the 95-97 7 bolts but it still does occur.

I would agree. Crank walk is way more of an issue in any 7 bolt motor though. Any motor, even a small block chevy CAN crank walk, they just don't typically.

Never listen to your friend again for car advice. The tdo6 20g is one of the best street/strip turbos built, oldschool for sure, but damned effective. The fidanza flywheel is right up there with the ACT flywheels and I'm not sure one is necesarily better than the other. Magnus intake manifold is one of the best intake manifolds for any dsm. I've got the FIC 650cc injectors myself. Webcams aren't the best but have gotten over their quality issues at least. Maft setup is working great for some people.

For 350hp you've got a great setup, hell you may be able to squeeze more than that out of it even. I know plenty of guys who own dsms, even some who work at import shops, they still don't know dick about upgrading a dsm properly.

And yes it may be true that 6 bolts may be less susceptible to crankwalk, but i am tired of people dogging the 7 bolts everytime this question is asked! Its always the same answer in one variation or another: "7 bolt is crap its gonna walk, you can't do anyting unless you get a 6 bolt because its the only way to go." I have an EVOLUTION 6 MOTOR in my car from the factory! If Mitsubishi deemed it good enough for their flagship of the time than its good enough for me.

I agree that you have a good looking list going. I was going to go with a 20g myself, despite some seeing it as old technology. It's a proven turbo, and is a great street/strip option I think. I just happened to get a good deal on a 50 trim, so I went that route instead. You should very much surpass your 350hp goal with that list! Good luck man!

You do not have an evolution 6 engine in your car. You have an engine that is loosely based on that motor. Hell yours is on the wrong side of the engine bay even. :rolleyes:

Your friend needs to not talk. Your set up will be more than ok for your goals as of now. Take it from an engine builder you will want the 6-bolt if your not going to be installing H beam rods. Stay the corse man, sounds like all of the advise you need you already posess.:thumb:
 
i have a spare motor too that i have built with a forged crank H beam rods, weisco 8.5:1 compression, Cometic HP head gasket, arp head studs, balence shafts yanked ect... as the story goes i was planning on building my laser but i popped the motor, so i built a motor to replace it, well i came across this talon cheap, and its clean. so out with the laser in with the talon, but im not swapping motors till i pop this one :) and for the way im modding, i have to thank DSM tuners because i spent hours apon hours studying setups, and differant combinations and how well they work togeather, but as soon as my friend told me my stuff was junk i 2nd guessed my decisions (oh btw i wanted to go 60 trim but i got my 20G manifold and O2 for 600.00 so i couldnt pass it up)
