have to install:
TD06 20G, fidenza flywheel, act 2600 6 puck, and a slew of other mods, but those where the parts that i was told where sub par. should i get rid of them? ive done the homework and not heard anything bad about any of them, but his comment made me worry a little, and he said something about the 99 7 bolt was the best 4g63 built. i always thought the 6 bolts where better, but am i wrong?

does your friend drive a honda, or does he even own a dsm? the 6-bolts are stronger than the 7-bolts and your setup looks good to me, i wouldn't worry about it. just think of it like this, obviously if he thinks that he's not too bright.

Only thing I can think off a 99 would be upgraded lifters if that.

6 bolts are supposed to be "better" less chance of crankwalk.

oh he owns some DSM's and a galant VR4, he also works at a shop that does imports, so thats what made me think.

Actually, the mods u posted aren't bad at all. Alot of dsm owners use those mods and put out some good numbers at the track and dynos. If i were u, i wouldn't listen to your "friend" at all, especially on the 7bolt predicament. Don't get me wrong, i own a 99 gst but have always heard the 6 bolts are best. I am curious about the lifters part since i have never been mentioned about that. Stick to your setup bro. You are on the right track.:thumb:

i still wouldn't listen to him. ask him what he suggests you do instead. i'm curious as to what he thinks is a good setup if he thinks yours is junk.

well im pretty much at the end of the track, just need to let my shoulder heal to install this stuff.
SBR FMIC, 20G, ACT2600, magnus intake, fidenza cam gears, aem fuel rail, FIC 650's, 3 inch down pipe, 3" magnaflow muffler, ported manifold, hks wastegate, adjustable FPR, webcams, lsd, MAFT, 3 inch gm maf, turbo XS BOV, urathane motor mounts, im forgetting some stuff but you get the hint. i just hope it doesnt disapoint me too bad, id like to break 350whp.

gt999r of corse.

If you ran the time listed in your profile with that set up, you should really look into what the hell happened. that set up is good for much better than STOCK performance.

oh no that was when i was damn near stock. i have all new stuff, and i got rid of the laser for a talon (cleaner car)

ROFL Magnus intake is junk. ROFL Either your friend has no clue, trying to sell you parts he carries or he is the type of person who just likes to argue and show off. IMO the only junk part in that list is TurboXS BOV and that's because I'm a recirculating type.

Ya your freind may have been on drugs at the time.
and as far as the 97-99 blocks go, there have been rumors of Mitsubishi using different crankshaft parts, and bearings that may have changed the "crankwalk" issue on them as well. This is not 100% though. I work at a mits/doge/ford dealer and there are different part #'s for each year motor.... so im not sure.

A bit of over kill for 350WHP, though I like overkill :D

Get it tuned right and I forsee 350-400WHP on pump 400-450 on C16 easily :dsm:

yeah, your friend is probably un-informed.
good luck with that 2600 lb, if it's the stage two street clutch, like I have combined with the fidanza your car is going to pull hard, and I dunno if this is for everybody but my clutch took a long time to break in and was extremely stiff to operate, still is actually

it's worth it though once you get used to it.

your 2600 will always be hard ;) every one ive ever driven is a work out ;) i cant wait to get all the stuff installed!

This GIRL daily drives a 2600 (when the car works). I really have no idea what you all are whining about. It's not that big of a deal unless you're in stop-and-go for a half hour/hour -then I start wishing for a lighter clutch or maybe even an auto... :shhh:

Tell your friend that I have a 7 bolt motor I will trade his 6 bolt for. If he's as mis-informed as it sounds, I should have a new motor in the near future :)

maybe he will!! ill ask him, but he also told me that either buscher told him that, or SBR

Jeff was only kidding but ask him anyway, tell him this one comes with an aftermarket walking crank, specifically designed for high power applications. :D

he said something about the 99 7 bolt was the best 4g63 built.

Wow of all the smart people on dsmtuners and no one mentioned anything about the thrust bearings. on 5/01/97 the 7 bolt 4g63T motors recieved revised 3 piece thrust bearings made of a different material than the 89-97 bearings.

This was the first mitsubishi block to use the 3 piece thrust bearings. The 99 gst MOTOR is also the same motor that was used in the JDM Evolution 6. And last time i checked all evolutions use 7 bolt blocks not 6 bolts, and the evo 6,7,8,9 all use the three piece thrust bearings found in the 98 99 4g63t blocks.

Actually, I believe that ALL evos use 7 bolt motors. 3 piece thrust bearings or not, I think the 7 bolt motor is still more susceptible to crank walk than the 6's.
