Hey guys, my name is john im kind of new to the forums, but not really a newbie. I have a 1g awd. It has the following mods, 17c turbo, upper ic pipe, crushed bov, 550 injectors, safc, hks cams, fuel pump, full 3 in exhaust, manual boost controller, stock maff and intercooler. I think thats it. but anyway the best we can get out of the car is 14.3 at 91 mph and thats running 18 pounds i dont think it is a tuning problem every thing seems to be where its suppose to. I was thinking it maight have something to do with the stock ic or the maff. I was thinking about putting a supra sidemount and a 2g maff on there . Any ideas would be greatley appreciated.

Get a fmic

edit: do a compression check, leak down. And post what you get, Maybe replace plugs and wires also.


I'm not to sure, but maybe your creating alot of heatsoak on the smic. Im not to well informed on the heatsoaking of smic, since i went with a fmic right away. But maybe someone else could enlighten me.
 
your car is definitely sick, or your driver sucks. like eagle_summit said do the tests first, if you're compression is shot, that could be the source of your lack of power.

after proper maintenance is done, check the turbo.. see if it has play or is blowing oil

last but not least get an fmic... but 1 good run should net you 13's with your setup regardless of heatsoak
 
I have done a leakdown and compression check. I just put new head on when i put cams in, so i did it then every thing was a-ok. I will check turbo but i think everthing there is ok to. I did the cams injectors afc and upper ic at the same time, and I had a theory that maybe the stock mafff with that ribbed snorkel might not be able to handle the increased air. But that theory might just plain suck. Anyone agree or disagree?
 
do a boost leak test with your recirculation hose off of the bov... My bov is leaking and its KILLING my power. But if the bov is leaking a little while closed its not something you'll notice without doing a boost leak test
 
do u have an aftermarket clutch? if not then u wont be able to put down that power to the wheels with a slipping clutch.

Do u have automatic or manual transmission? with automatic tranny u will just be slow as hell.

Ur stock intercooler will not like any boost over 16psi, get an upgraded one so u can keep intake charges down.

Do u have a 255 fuel pump? if u do its a good idea to have a pressure regulator for it.

What rpms are u launching at? How are u releasing the clutch, just dropping it or are u slipping it slowly?

What octane gas are u running?

How many fat people were sitting in ur car when u raced it?
 
Ok yes it has a manual transmission. It also has aftermarket clutch. Yes it has the 255 fuel pump but no afr. I launch at about 5300 rpm and i slip it. however im getting awsome launches squats on the back two tires and goes. I run 93 in it. And I was the only fat person in it.
 
91 trap is slower then bone stock, you either got terrible tuning or a major boost leak, other then that ur driving is pretty good because 14.3 @ 91 is pretty good for trap.
