I screwed up

While assembling my motor I put a rod cap on backwards and didn't notice. It was late and I was tired. I turned it over by hand and notice it was binding. Pulled it, fliped the cap around and now it all rotates fine. Am I ok or are the bearings shot now?

I would think not. If u just turned it of by hand that to me wouldn't be enough to "mess" anything up. Now if u had started the motor up while it was backwards then yes.

yea i think you should be fine as well.... you caught it just in time....

You should be fine. You caught it before any real constant strain or torque was applied, so no real damage should have occurred.

you don't know that your fine .but you can find out with plastigage . it's cheap insurance. if you torqued the rod cap, you could distort the cap and or bearing. so yeah cheap insurance.

On the first motor i built i did this with a main cap, i like you did found it right away when it binded up. It did end up spinning a rod bearing prematurely but the rod caps where never put on the wrong way at all. All mains stayed fine.

^ agreed a little checking is ALOT cheaper than replacing your cap and bearing.

I agree. Check every thing over to be safe and take some time looking, But this time don't be tired when doing it.
