Well I was putting in my new high flow fuel filter and ss lines and I had to take off this piece, the rusty piece attached to the intake mani. Is that ok to remove????

anyways when I took the IC pipe off the intake mani I found this inside. How the hell did that get in there??? LOL

I think that rusty peice is an engine mount, like the one near the exhaust manifold.

Altho that rubber peice, No clue...
Its not a hood bumper is it?
 
it says to turn it clock wise. I dont know what it is. So I should leave that rusty piece on. If I do the new fittings I got from import evolution will not connect to the fuel rail. They are to big.
 
The rusty piece is the Throttle Body bracket. You can remove it, but you will have to use washers or change the stud so you can tighten the cam sensor down correctly.

The object found between the TB elbow and TB is the: Manual headlight pop up motor knobby cover. How it got in there...NO IDEA! HA! The butterfly kept it from being pushed/sucked into the motor. I would feel lucky after finding that.

WTF WTF WTF wow, just wow. youve got to be the luckiest SOB. not that it would have done much damage being rubber, but you still wouldve had to pull the head at least. WTF WTF WTF
 
I guess I am pretty lucky. I dont know how long that has been in there and I have driven the car a good 1500 miles since I bought it. So I guess I will leave that rusty piece off so I can out on my new SS line. Thanks for all the advice guys.
 
Make sure if you do cut some off of the end, that you taper the tip of the bolt so it will thread in. But you prob already knew that
 
That great, your probably dropped that in there working on it. As far as that bracket goes, I would keep it on there. It keeps less stress on the intake.
 
I got the new high flow fuel filter in with ss lines to the rail and I also have an Aeromotive AFPR with SS line to the rail. My fuel pressure will only reach 20PSI. :mad:It will stay there. It will not go any lower or any higher when I try to adjust it. The idle also goes up and down. It will jump to like 1500r.p.m and then back down to 1000r.p.m. It will keep doing this as long as it runs. :cry:I tryed lowering the idel and it stopped. The next day when I started the car it came back. What would be causing this???
 
Make sure that your idle air control valve didn't get unplugged or messed up when you were fooling around with the TB. It's the thing right under the foreign object in your second photo. Check, again, that you installed the fpr correctly, and that there is no obstruction in the vac line running to it. Do 1g's have a fpr solenoid? If so, bypass that and see if it helps (that was the problem on my 2g after the afpr install).
 
I will check that stuff tommorow. Hopefully i just left something unplugged. What and where exactly is the fpr solenoid?
 
I checked the idle air control valve an it looks good to me. The AFPR is fine. I dont know whats going on. Any other ideas.
 
Only 20 psi fuel pressure seems a little low. 1st Gens should have a base fuel pressure of 37 psi, and were you able to get the fuel pressure to move when you adjust the regulator?
because that dosent sound good ether. for the jumping idle check your vacuum lines. you might of bumped one off by accident during the install. if all your vacuum lines are good try pulling the IAC connecter while its running wait a few seconds and put it back on. (worked for me once)
 
On a 2g the fpr solenoid is on the firewall, between the clutch and brake reservoirs. My factory 2g fpr vac line was connected through this solenoid, and didn't allow my afpr to raise pressure 1:1 because it was faulty.

When I disconnect the vaccum line it dose nothing. The pressure stays the same. I know when you are setting the pressure you set it to the correct fuel pressure with the hose off and then put the vaccum line back on. When I try to adjust the fuel pressure it stays at 20PSI. What and where is the IAC connecter?

Oh sorry:coy:, IAC(Idle Air Control) valve connecter, and its on you throttle body housing.

This may sound like a bumb question but did you install the high flow fuel filter in the correct direction? Fuel filters usually have a correct one way only flow direction.
 
I will have to check the filter. I did not know they could only go in one direction. I feel stupid. Thanks for the info guys I will check this stuff tommorow and see what I can find
 
I was thinking the same thing. So when I bought the high flow filter I also bought a Walbro 255. The problem with that is I can get the damn fuel lines to come loose.
