duty fees how too get around it... too canadian dsmers..need help!

hey well this thread not too any of you american dsmers...lucky bastards.... But yea anyways as everyone knows almost all the performance parts, rims, kits are all located in the states. All the stuff i see on ebay are from the states but the bad thing for me is DUTY FEES!!! My buddy told me its $30 for every $50 you spend which is ridiclous. Are there any dsmers who got around this? are there any good canadian part store for performance parts, kits, rims or anything thats aftermarket? everything i see has too be shipped here from the states and i don't want too pay no ridicolous duty fees. Kinda pisses me off... By the way all the performance shops here are complete rip offs here in winnipeg and they get it shipped from the states as well..... Need your help canadian DSmers or any Dsmer that knows a good canadian website thats sells aftermarket parts for a good price.

china/ japan origin i think its 15% or so... could be wrong

simple, ask for shipped "as a gift" by USPS.

rule #1, never to be broken : Never, EVER, use UPS unless you're obliged to...

see you can dothat with clothes on stuff on ebay but i don't think you can put down car parts as gifts.... does it work for you if you buy a car aprt of ebay and ask seller too put it as a gift?

I work in a shop building race jetskis and a lot of the work and things we sell is out of the country. I handle shipping and i just mark the package as a gift and write in the item description as it being used parts. I think that makes it so the receiver doesn't have to pay any duties on it. Hope this helps.

yeah you still have to pay a lil bit when you get a package, it's only 1/10th of what UPS usually charges you, tho

Example : I bought a GM MAF from a guy here... paid 4$ duties/taxes/fees whatsoever (50 USD declared)

Most reputable shops are not going to ship "gift/value $10"

I don't find duty too bad. It's courier brokerage fees that's killer.

For most big ticket items I use a local guy who knows his DSMs. I'll pm you.

so you guys saying if i put it as a gift it will work becuase that what i do with the clothing i buy on ebay and it always work but buying a bumper and turbo as a gift i dunno if that will work. But that could be a gift.... Let me know if it works.

You arent the one marking it as a gift. The person/company you are buying the item from has to mark it as a gift. So before you buy, ask the seller if he/she is willing to mark it as a gift so you dont have to pay for customs. Usually they agree and there is no trouble.

ive had people ask me to declare the value as being $20 on a item shipped to canada.
(to get out of paying duties)

Whenever I send parts to Canada I send them as a GIFT. If they are sent as a gift, no taxes have to be paid.
