hey, ive had my car for a while and i am trying to decide if i should upgrade this or just keep saving my money to get an evo in a few years when the warranty on this car runs out. i was thinking of getting a t28 or an evoIII b16g with all supporting mods of course, but my car has nearly 80,000 miles on it, and it is my daily driver. i should be able to install the turbo w/o voiding the warranty cause i have some connections, but if the motor blows on me after the warranty is up, im screwed. do you think a car with 80k miles on it can handle a turbo like that without crapping out on me?

Lol. No worries at all. If it's gonna go it's gonna go. There's no way to predict. But at 80k i wouldn't be worried about nothing. I put a Frank 19c on my 95 with 117K. Don't worry about it, you will be fine. 80K isn't bad miles at all.I have a 97GSX also, Just put a 16g on mine with 112k miles and i have no problems.

oh, cool. how much boost are you running and what are you using to tune your fuel maps? thanks.

I have a boost creep problem so it goes up to 20. I have a SAFC but i haven't really done any tuning yet. I need to get rid of this creep first.

don't worry man. I had my s16g put on at 102k miles. I'm at 110k miles already with no problems at all. My friend put on a 19c at 140k and it was still fine. I don't think you need to worry if the car is running fine.

wow, i had no idea how high of mileage these motors go for. what kinda abuse patterns do your cars go under?

My car doesn't see much abuse. Probably like once a month or so? But my friend's spyder with 140k gets abused pretty frequently. It hits redline pretty much everyday I think. Trust me, these cars goes up to pretty high if you take care of them well. I have 110k miles on the clock, but whenever I'm out with the DSM club, I'm one of the guys with the lower milage. We have people well over 160k and still running strong.

I have a 97 GSX and my 16g is going on tonight. I have all the supporting mods, half on my car and half in my room ready to go on. Car has 74k and runs smooth as silk. That doesn't really mean much as far as engine longevity but I'm determined to keep this bad boy cranking straight through 200k miles.
