A guy is willing to sell me his 14b for $80. I've heard that the 14b is better than the T25. So, should I get it? And what parts (besides the turbo itself) will I need to install it?

Am I gona experience any power gains :sneaky: ? :dsm:

you won't be able to see any of the bearings unless you take the turbo apart, that is uneccessary. Just grab each end of the shaft with your fingers in both sides (the intake side, and the exhaust side) and wiggle it around, up and down, and in and out. It may move but it should only be very minimal. No more than .005 of an inch, and that is about the thickness of a piece of paper. If it does move around more than that, then you can either look into a different turbo, or rebuild that one. To rebuild it is really easy, and you can pick up the rebuild kit for somewhere around $115.00.

So, even if you have to rebuild it you paid less than $200 for a decent upgrade from your t25.

Here is a link on how to rebuild a turbo http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Turbo-rebuild.html

Are you talking about grabbing it with one hand on the inlet and one on the outlet?

Oh yeah. He also said that in 1st and 2nd gear the psi goes from 15 to 12 for some reason. Should I worry about this? He does have an mbc on his car.

I don't understand that statement, that sounds more like what your t25 will do as you get closer to redline. ROFL

Those kind of results will vary depending on each persons set up, and car. What you need to worry about is what kind of condition the turbo is in.

"Are you talking about grabbing it with one hand on the inlet and one on the outlet?"<-- I was just trying to give you an example of how I checked for shaft play when I checked my turbo. You can check it however you want to, just make sure it is within the limits.

My T25 actually doesn't drop a single psi at the redline or anywhere alse. Strange huh?

What psi are you boosting at? Is that using the stock bcs, or a mbc?

My old t25 was bossting to 16-17 psi, but by the time it hit redline it was down to 12psi. That was before I had a boost controller, and I was using the stock bcs.

I wish it was a T28 but sadly it's not. It looks like this

the only real difference visible to the naked eye is that the t28 has a very thin walled intake, the t25 looks like above (I just finished swapping today) even the marking on the compressor housing is the same

I'll try to take a pic of it tommorow. Shit, it would be tight if I had a T28.
