A guy is willing to sell me his 14b for $80. I've heard that the 14b is better than the T25. So, should I get it? And what parts (besides the turbo itself) will I need to install it?

Am I gona experience any power gains :sneaky: ? :dsm:

You'll experience noticable power gains. Flows MUCH more air than the T-too-small. You'll need: turbo (obviously), oil feed line (SS preferably), oil drain with bolt holes filed closer together, and you can reuse the water lines just make sure to reverse their positions. You also need a J-pipe, either off a 1G or an aftermarket one, and a 90 degree elbow to get to the IC.

Hey man if you are planning on doing an kind of moding i would go with a bigger turbo. Many gsx's have hit very low numbers with the 14b but we gs-t's are not so lucky. You will feel a gain with the 14b but if u going to spend the money i would suggest at least some kind of 16g.

I just did that exact same thing to my GS-T. I love it, it pulls hard, and it pulls all the way to redline. Make sure you port the inlet side of the turbine housing and port it so that the wastegate flapper can open all the way.--> http://www.vfaq.com/mods/porting-turbo.html.

Here is what you will need: a j pipe, oil feed line (I highly recomend a S/S), and then all you have to do is tweak your waterlines to fit.

If you buy a Walbro 190 and put it in at the same time you can boost at 15-18psi. on pump gas, depending on the circumstances.

Ok, my current boost is set at 15psi. If I change the turbo will the psi rate change too?

I'm doing this swap to and was wondering if you could use the exhaust manifold to T25 gasket or if it is too small for the 14b. I havent measured it but I'm pretty sure its a 6cm gasket.

Mine worked perfect, but I believe I had a 7cm gasket, because I already had a 3" downpipe. If it doesn't you can get them from your mitsu dealer, or just take a dremel to it.

If you are running your stock bcs it will may change, becaude the bcs is operated by the computer. The computer controls the boost according to flow, and it will turn it up, or down depending on variables such as knock. You can buy a manual boost controller (mbc) for like $50 dollars, and then you can control it.

Thats what I did. Works awsome. You'll feel the difference.

Well, I talked to the guy and he said that he's only selling the turbo. No oil feed line or J-pipe.

Should I still get it?

you can get a nice SS oil feed line from the vendors or off of ebay for 50$ and you can get the jpipe for 10$ off of the classifieds or a salvage yard. I would still get it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. But how can make sure that the turbo is in good working condition?

Should I expect the turbo to come with an wastegate or without one?

The guy just told me that the turbo has even been PORTED. :thumb: :D That's even better, right?

You need to check the turbo for shaft play. If you can wiggle the thrust bearing in the middle of the turbines up and down and side to side it's prolly toast. Don't just pick up any old turbo. If you're going to spend the money, make sure it's good.

Look on Slowboy Racing for a 16G install kit. Just remember that a 14b, 16G, 18G, and 20G all use the same tdo5h housing so the kit is good for all those turbos. It comes with everything you need I believe.

Or you can ^^^^ make your own kit.

I should be picking it up today and I'll check for that.

The only reason the guy is selling the 14b is because he's getting a 16g.

Or maybe the only reason he's getting a 16g is because his 14b went bad. You gotta remember this simple but painful fact. People want money.

Yeah, that's true.

Can you send me a pic of the the thrust bearing in the middle of the turbine? I'm not quiet sure what you're talking about.

I'm at work so I can't.

But it's what sticks out past the turbine wheels. Look in the inlet and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

It's the only thing that looks like it won't cut you.
