I am planning on buying an ebay down pipe and catback but i need a new cat that would bolt up to it. I would prefer it to be 3" so it was less of a restriction. Does anyone know who sells high flow cats with flanges for our exhaust? Thanks.

If you are going to buy a down pipe and and a flanged cat, make sure comes from the same folks or it most likely will not be a simple bolt in affair.

I am using a welded in high flow cat. Forget your assumptions about cats. High flow cats are different, you can see all the way through from end to end. There are nothing more than a couple honey combs in the cat. Also the cat opens up to much larger than the 3 inch exhaust, so even with the honey combs, they do not cause much, if any, back pressure.

search ebay for:

3" Catalytic Converter High Flow Stainless Steel

This one claims to be good for up to a 5.9 v8

Those 2 items look exactly like the ones that i bought a few months back, You will not need a cat if you dont HAVE to have one, otherwise you will have to cut the downpipe and add a cat. if you notice in the "specs" i believe it was number 8, it says "This Product is for Car Show, Off Road, Race or Performance Only" which i do believe means it is a cat delete downpipe.
AND when you try to bolt it up to your car the flanges do not line up, the dp flange has it holes straight across(horizontal) and the catback is clocked at roughly 7 and 2 oclock.
SO; if you do have to have a cat, put the whole exhaust on and mark where the flanges need to be and cut the dp and have a "no flange" cat welded in.
I had to make an adapter because the dp and cb were 2.5" from each other when installed on the factory hangers.
I hope this helps you. :thumb:

That one looks the same to me, the non-cat delete will be about 2 foot shorter. and mine said bolt on too, the problem was the flanges on the factory cat, they are clocked from one end to the other. It is hard to get reliable info from ebay sellers, half of them dont have a clue what fits what. I didnt plan on putting my cat on though, i was hoping it was the cat delete, and it was! :hellyeah:

hmm ok, thanks for that. Unfortuantely i need my cat due to emissions testing here in PA. I'm going to keep on looking.

The catback seller says they can only gaurantee it fits the stock cat, so that means it necks down in the beginning to 2" for the cat. This is getting harder than i thought... maybe i'll just skip the high flow cat for now... or i'll find an exhaust shop around here and see if i can get away without spending an arm and a leg.

The Punishment Racing downpipe retains a cat/test pipe and its only 125 shipped. All larger then stock aftermarket downpipes should say "for off road use only". It has nothing to do with the cat.

$30 for a down pipe - that is cheap as they get!

The cat back that you linked said gsx but the picture is for a gst. Ask the seller if he has picture of the gsx version. But from what I could tell looked like a good deal.

I ordered a Meagan down pipe and a cat back. The cat back I ordered showed a neck down adapter. It was for bolting to stock DP so without it, the catback was too short. No problem, I was cutting the DP to fit in a high flow cat anyway, I just made it fit and then welded.
The cat back you linked DOES NOT look like it would have the same problem as mine.

In North Carolina and I assume ALL states there is at least a visual inspection for a cat. The tire dealer that does my inspections asked me about the cat but OK'ed it anyway.

search on this:

95-99 ECLIPSE GSX 4WD TURBO CATBACK CAT BACK EXHAUST

looks good $140

yeah, the dp is cheap but that is because they usually raise shipping prices. Its about $80 total, which i am perfectly fine with. I was also looking at that catback, its $250 including shipping. I think the catback narrows down in the beginning to fit the stock cat. I'll ask them what it starts out at as well. Who knows, maybe it is a full 3"

EDIT: Ok so i just got back from the shop and they ran some o2 tests and they said my levels are fine and my cat isn't clogged at normal temp. So i'm going to buy this downpipe:

it is the same as the megan racing downpipe. Now i need to find a catback that will bolt up to this. Does anyone know of such an ebay item? Thanks.

When the time comes for inspection i'll just put the stock downpipe and cat on for the day.

Ok, i was looking at the flanges and everything seems to match up so i'm going buy this catback to match the downpipe i just posted:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-9...Accessories&hash=item53e1059d8e#ht_2952wt_778

should total to about $270 for a catless turbo back, not bad...
