Guy at the Local performance store said that in my 97 eclipse n/t a high flow cat wont do anything, in fact it might it might lose horse power. he said it will only help if i would have a turbo. is this true? i always thought high flow cat always helped out. thanks

a high flow cat should yield minimal horsepower gains.. i doubt you would even notice the difference.

as for you losing power, highly unlikely. it's true that you want some backpressure as it helps to have the exhaust scaveging effect, but i doubt that you would lose power from having a high flow cat.
