I give up on dsm

IV HAD THIS CAR FOR AS LONG AS IVE BEEN A MEMBER HERE AND IVE BEEN BREAKING DOWN EVERY 2 WEEK SHOULD I GIVE UP?

1 CLUTCH WENT BAD
2 TURBO BLOW
3 MOTOR MOUNTS
4 BOV LEAKING
5 SHIFT CABLE BROKE
6 STARTER WENT
7 CLUTCH MASTER CYC
8 TODAY MY RPM GAUGE STARTED JUMPING AND THE CAR IS MISFIREING

WHAT SHOULD I DO IM TIRED OF THIS CAR ####ING WITH ME.

yep maintenance for dsm is rebuild the car top to bottom

That's right the t25 can't handle 15psi That's over stock boost and with slight mods off its compressor map. Then to add to that you have a massive boost leak at the bov. Of course that happened YOUR FAULT. the turbo was being pushed too hard. Guess what happened. The info on the limits of the 2g bov and t25 are all over this site.

You have NOT rebuilt the car from top to bottem:

--Stock 2g bov's leak at 15psi.
--Y_O_U blew the turbo.
--Stock starters go on all cars with as many miles.
--Stock clutch cylinders go on all cars with as many miles.
--Stock motor mounts go on all cars with as many miles and this much more torque.
--Stock clutches go on all cars with as many miles and especially running over stock boost with a bad clutch cylinder.

And you need a new cas & fix your shifter cables (probably someone beating the hell out of the linkage shifting F&Fstyle). So what? Where is this rebuild from top to bottem?

the turbo that blow on me was the t25 i guess it couldn't handle 15psi thats why i had to put a chinabang on there for now and im talking about the 97 eagle talon fwd tsi. not my hondas. but i will say your right i did have to spend alot on the lude i did go all out bc i think it worth it

Yes sell it, PLEASE. Apparently, you don't think the dsm is worth treating it the same as your honda. As well, please go up to the top right of this thread under "thread tools" and mark as "resolved"

I agree. I'm sick of reading your whiny childish comments. There's a difference between ranting a little about having a bad day and flat out bad mouthing a car that this forum is based around. Don't come here bashing your DSM repeatedly and then putting your Honda up on some sort of pedestal because it apparently never breaks, never requires any maintenance, and will take all the abuse you throw at it without ever "talking back".
Sell your DSM. I'll vent about my GST needing tons of money put into it because of neglect, money I don't have, but I love my DSM too much to give up on it. Its been a fun car, it gets great gas mileage when tuned properly, and most DSM guys are good guys and easy to get along with.

I think someones exaggerating a little bit (or a lot). I find it very hard to believe you've replaced 14 motors and 13 transmissions. And if this is true I'd say you're definitely doing something wrong.

I'm not exaggerating and im not doing anything wrong the problem was my brother that wants to drive 200mph on the streets and he just wants to raace everyone one out there trust me i learn my lesson but it took me more than 8 years.

he knows how to drive, so what i did is sold all the damn cars and move from state so he stops asking to borrow the car

it was never the cars it was his 2 ton foot on the gas pedal

Some one shut this thread down. It has no purpose here. This site is for DSM enthusiasts. Not what ever you wanna call the original poster. If your bummed out about your car and you wanna express that and want advise to help you fix your stuff then people will help you. I have made friends on this site that i hang out with because of these cars and they have gave me parts in tough times. Stuff like a spare starter and CAS. If you want to cry about it why are you still crying do what everyone elses does sell it, done end of story. I daily drive mine from 28-30lbs of boost. I dont see the reliability problems.

EVERY DSMER HAS GONE THROUGH THIS! I've spent wayyyy to much money on my car, but for me it's worth it. I wake up in the morning go outside and say DAMN that's my car, drive it and not have any worries anymore. In a year I've had

-Alternator gone bad
-2 mafs gone bad
-blown turbo
-coolant line burst
-boost leaks
-oxygen sensor
-Right now my rack and pinion are gone and I need to replace it
-valve cover gasket cracked( got that replaced right away)

I put my car up for sale because I thought problems would be never ending! But since I've taken out my car from storage, only problem I've had is fuel cut and that's my own fault for not installing v3link yet.

So imo really think about what you are, a honda guy or a dsmer. Because honestly it sounds as though you've just given up, and when that time comes the car is no longer needs to be hated. Good luck with what you decide but the sound of a good dsm DESTOYS VTEC! My car only has 325whp and sounds A SHIT LOAD BETTER then the guy at my school that has a "500"hp turbo lude.

Once you give up, it's time to pass the torch to an up and coming dsmer...........Gayest line I've ever written but it's true!

Broken manifold studs, blah blah blah, clutch.

Car drove 450 miles combined in less that 18 hours after I bought it.

Says something about the cars shape.

well in two months here is my list

1) new coil pak
2) new MAF
3) new slave cyl and ss line
4) re-seal leaky oil pan
5) new ecu
6) new alty and belt
7) new timing kit
8) new throttle cable
9) new axle seal and had to grind down tranny due to previous owner
10) replace all lines and hoses
11) new oil dipstick
12) new cd player
13) new front 02 sensor
14) new boost gauge
15) new fmic (my choice)

I picked my 97 GS-T up for 3 grand 2mnths ago, and hate having it break down every week because something goes wrong due to previous owners lack of knowledge and maintenance upkeep.. But love driving it when it runs good... If you Don't plan on doing maintenance don't buy a dsm bc they require a lot... Now that I finally have one I will never sell it ....

I bought mine and a week later my head gasket blew. Radiator was also broken. I didn't push my car at all.

Replaced a lot of stuff as mechanic said my car was "partially flooded".

Later the power steering broke.

Pretty much in the same boat.

Its been said hundreds of times, these cars aren't new by any means. Things are likely to need replacement. You knew that when you bought the car so I don't understand how some people can complain about it. No one is forcing you to drive a DSM

well i feel you guys pain. the only reason i got this car is because i like the body style. Ive always like it. i know cars break here and there. Ive just had really bad luck with this one and my last 1g. but i know the 1g was going to be alot of money because i got it for $200 with a locked up motor and turbo. i built that car for the bottom up it took me almost 2yr when i was done i put 5000 miles or so in to it then it gave me hell so i trade it for a 1990 civic. i know these cars r not that good but dam they cant be this bad.

Amen Can you say OPTISPARK= POS. If ya really wanna go GM LS is the way to go. I had a 520Whp LS1 6speed Z28 and sold it for another DSM, What does that tell you............. Having a fast car is expensive and trust me it dont get any cheaper with a V8 my friend.
