I broke something, is it bad?

I was hammering away at the stock oil feed line (long story), and hit this thing by accident. It's right by (might be on, I forget) the oil filter housing. The thing to the bottom and left is the feed line. It's broken off in the picture though. It's kind of hard to make out, but the little metal piece is cracked.

Looks like you cracked the metal tab coming off of that sensor/sending device of sorts. If you know how to do soldering, wonder if you can resolder, or fill in that that tab with solder?

Had to do the same with my temp sending unit - tab worked loose and I had to resolder it back on.

I can't tel too well from the picture...is that the oil pressure sensor that has the screw head? If so, just unscrew it and crimp on a small ring connector to the wire and reattach it with the screw. That's what I did to mine.

Yeah sorry about that, camera phone, there is a screw holding it in. Not sure if that's what you meant. I don't have a soldering gun up at school, and since wire isn't really handy I'm wondering if I can just use electrical tape?

You broke the tab off of either the oil pressure sensor (for the gauge) or oil pressure sender (for the light).

You can buy either at your local parts store....the sensor (for the gauge) is around $30 and the sender (smaller of the two, for the light) was $4.98 the last time I bought one.
