I broke it!

Yesterday night my turbo started to sound really funny upon full throttle. when i get on it the boost guage flutters at 15psi and the turbo spools but sound like a buch of lil animals screaching and screaming. It does it evan when in park and i rev it, and i am pretty sure it is the turbo goign bad, but what do you guys think?

I just drove it again and the turbo is really sounding bad, although it does boost under full boost it makes some weird noises. Alot of white smoke comes from my exhaust when i shift, it is making me really mad.

did you take the intake off and check for play in the turbo???

No i have not, tell you the truth i prob couldn't ( i dont have the know how). I think it is the turbo because it only smokes when i shift and it only makes noises under boost. What do you think?

think it's the turbo also cause that's exactly how mine did. It's very very simple to do just have to loosen 1 screw to take the intake off and try to wiggle the turbine. it'll take you less than 5 min tops.

Thank you, i will check tommrow. Is like a lil test, like how much should it wiggle?

None. The same amount you should be driving it until you find out for certain what's wrong.

Also, check for oil deposits inside the housing. If theres lots of oil in there, thats another indicator that the turbo is bad (bad seals.) But like defiant said, DONT drive it until you find out whats wrong. Another thing to check would be your starter. Mine made a screeching\squeeling noise at certain RPM's when it was going out and I falsly diagnosed it as a bad turbo and replaced the turbo for no reason. Good luck!

Ok, with some help from another dsm'r in town i took off the intake and looked at the turbo. I can pull the wheel in and out about .25 of an inch. So i think it is bad. What do you think>?

I was looking at fp big t28 and it is 800.00 ported. Do i need anything else to help with boost creep? I was also looking at sb 16g (small) it is 499.00 + port 50.00 34 flaper 60.00 and 200.0 for install kit for a total of 790.00. What do you think i should do? I do not plan to race or anything just a drag once and a while. what are your thoughts?
