My CEL came on a little bit ago. It's throwing a code 12 at me which is the volume air flow sensor. Two days ago I installed an AFCII and it was running great until just s bit ago. I was coming home being easy on it it started sputtering and kept stalling. I managed to get her home but it barely stays running on it's own. I'm going to go over tha AFCII wiring again to make to sure everything is in order but in case that isn't the problem I need some other solutions. I was also hereing what souned like a popping noise? Coming from under hood. It almost sounds like metal on metal. I checked the timing belt and timing and everything looks good so I don't think thats what it is.

Yes I knew that but I think my problem may be coming from the AFCII. When I just unplug the ACFII it throws a CEL code 12(air flow meter) Well I bypassed the AFC harness all together(back to stock) and start it up it runs the same but there is no CEL? It idles at like 4 or 500 and stalls unless I give it gas. Also the boost gauge isn't reading any vacuum until I give it some gas then it's at 25 inch's of vacuum. I'm also hearing a metal on metal sound while the car is under load when I'm on the throttle?

I think I burnt a valve or something! I've got no compresion in #1 and #2! #3 and #4 are both reading 120psi.

Ouch. put oil in the clyindar and do it again and then its time for the head rebuild. while its out make sure you port it a little. im still kicking my ass that i didnt do that.

Well I have some good news. I don't think it's the valves! The head gasket blew between cylinders 1 and 2. I guess thats the reason for my loss in compression in those 2 cylinders.Theres a good 1/2" of gasket missing from between them. The code 12 was just from not having the AFCII hooked while having the harness still tapped in. The vlaves and spark plugs look a little wierd though. The plugs and valves in #3 and #4 were white, while the ones in #1 and #2 were black and it didn't blow any smoke? While the head is off I'm going to take it to the shop and have it cleaned and have the valve seals and guides replaced. I've already got some ARP head studs on the way and an EGR block off but I need to find the info to do the EGR stuff. Hopefully it will be back up and running by the end of the week.
