Hi there,
Im hoping to upgrade to a Holset HX40 from a pte SCM61, but im woried about the fitment of the HX40 with a mishimoto fan shroud. Anyone have experiance with fitment of the Holset turbos in pretty tight spaces?
Thanks!

2g's might be different but on my 1g i had to cut the lower support and move the radiator forward about 2 inches to get it to clear the mishimoto fans, its why alot of people i think just go with the half rad.

I am using the bep .70ar housing on the exhaust side so the stock housing would definitely hit.

here is with the radiator and the fitment of the turbo

the rad moved forward 2 inches to give clearance.

what i did to move the lower radiator support.

cut out the support

installed a bar with mounting tabs welded on to it for the lower rad posts to sit in.

i still had to clock the turbo 3 or 4 times to get it to line up so it wouldnt hit the fan shroud or the front motor mount. i also ended up making a new lower sub frame bar to make that smaller also so the intercooler piping would fit

I have an HX40 in my 2G. I also still run the stock main fan with a triple core radiator that is a good deal thicker then the stock radiator. I would still be able to fit a slim fan on the a/c side if it weren't for my wastegate configuration as well. As of right now I have a pusher on that side in front of the a/c condensor.

For the main fan to fit the shroud had to be trimmed since the compressor cover hit it. Also I have brackets on my fan that offsets it from the stock mounting holes moving it towards the fender and away from the compressor cover. The brackets only move it a few centimeters. The shroud then overhung on the side of the radiator and I sealed it with race tape.

If your using a stock radiator you probably will only need to trim the shroud and not have to deal with the brackets. I am using a BEP .55 bolt on housing with a FP manifold by the way.

Using the 2g manifold and BEP housing would give you the most room i believe.

I run cheapo OBX manifold with less clearance than most HX40 t3 manifolds out there. If you buy a good enough fan you don't need a shroud. I have all my AC equipment still and won't overheat. I run a 16" spal slim high output fan on the driver side and a cheapo 12" deal on the pass side. It's very close and I run heat shielding on the hotside of the turbo.

Well, I just replaced the slim fans I had with a new mishimoto shroud so it's already in place and I dont want to gO through the process of selling it. I see that the budget punishment t3 manifold seems to provide a decent amount of room. Can anyone comment on this?

one area that may be a concern with the manifold is the clearance on the block side with the water pipe. When i was looking at manifolds it looked like the erl cast and a few of the high end tubular manifolds did the best job centering the turbo between the block and the radiator. I cant speak of all of them but i know alot of people seem to have issues with the water pipe hitting and having to dent it for the turbo to fit.

You did a nice job, BUT whatever you do, the AC fan most likely will melt from the heat from turb-manifold combo, period.

Try and install the AC fan on the outside of rad, in the same location as it would be on the inside/at least to keep the the air pushed thru the shroud .

Not to mention, you would run cooler temps, if you install some shielding/heat wrap around turbo,s hot side and DP. Also how much room you would have for the after turbo pre FMIC inter oiler piping???

my exhast is going straight out from the turbo and turning down for a low mounted side exit exhaust. As it sits right now the intercooler pipe is about 4-6 inches below the level of where the exhaust pipe will run.
