i bought this eclipse with no motor, so im jus gonna drop a completly stock motor in it, buy a new block and build that up, and go from there. i jus need to no what wuld be the best mods for this

10's on a 420a, ''good luck'' even with a turbo it probably wont go nomore than low 13's high to mid 12's if luck may have it mid 11's but that is shit piles of cash later.

by the looks of the avatar, you shouldn't be anywhere near the drivers seat of a 10 second car.

Simply put, you cant run 10s in a 420a and retain its drive-ability. Its not easy to run 10s in any car and use it for a dd. From personal experience 420a are expensive to turbo correctly, i have got 10k in parts for a car that cost me $500 and ill be lucky to get in the high 11s. In my personal opinion you should start with the obvious things timing belt, plugs wires, entire front half of the car, basic stuff.

Newbie Forum: Beginner/newbie/general DSM questions. first mods, how to run 10's when you haven't run 12's yet, any tech question that doesn't fit in another tech forum.

Not trying to be an a-hole, just take it a step at a time man.

Aww com' on who deleted the posts!!
You're best bet would be to drop in a 4g63t. Even then it's very hard to achieve 10's. Best thing to do is start to read and learn about your car before you start to mod.

that's not even worth doing. The 4g63 swap into a 2g rs or gs is hell. He's best off just selling his car and buying a gst or gsx

might want to fix your frontend before you think about running 10s.

lime green body kit,t3t4 turbo, stand alone fuel management system and enough naaas to blow the thing up,then turn your nos timing down and you should be in the 10s in no time

I did the whole turbo 420a thing. It was fun, but it cost a furtune and still wasn't fast. Def not worth it. And I will pretty much gurantee you won't run 10's, ever. As far as I know there is still only one 10 sec 2gnt, and that was Bill Hahn Jr.'s car that doesn't even exist anymore. Go check out 2gnt.com as well.

I guess it's really Hard, unless You have deep pocket, why don't U use EVO ?:D It's still Mitsubishi :thumb:

LOL this made me giggle. What's the little slogan for the noobie forum again? Ahhh I found it..."how to run 10's when you haven't run 12's yet"

No No No....it will take a fwd 420a the SAME amount of money for a fwd 4g63 to run 10's. Both will need lots fuel, a good way to tune, built motors, big turbos, etc. The point is that being fwd limits both, and do not talk about the 420a unless you know about. The only reason why there isn't a lot of fast 420a's is because of the 4g63. DSMzero for one went with an expensive route(very expensive) and even had a bodykit put on with a nice paint job, I know for a fact I could build a faster car than zeros for a whole lot less money(no disrespect to him though). As for the OP, it seems as if you have a way to go before you even run 14's, you need to do a lot of research before you move forward with anything.

you don't need a built motor to run 10's on a fwd dsm at least not on a 1g
ROFL I dont know what dsm you were riding in, but any of the ones ive ridden in havent had the gumption to run low 11s without atleast some motor work...... Maybe if he just throws a shot of NOS on there and gives her hell (which in case he will then proceed to do motor work after he fries his motor)
