Like the forum Description says "how to run 10's when you haven't run 12's yet"

I figure that I should build the engine right from the get go...

What ALL do I need to do to be able to run 10's (11's up in the rockies where I'm at)

My over all goal is to make a Road Race car that can run pretty decent in the 1/4 (10's/11's)

So far my plan is thus:
DSMlink
850's w/E85
WB255 hotwire
The ultamate build from Jack's transmitions
ACT2600
Silicone intakes 31"x11.75"x3" FMIC with a full 2.5 to the throttle body (1g N/T)
3" turbo to Cat, 4" Catback with testpipe
FP3052
Ported 2g manifold or the FP cast mani

The Bolt ons I'm pretty familir with, its the bottom & Top end i need advice on, what crank, Pistons, Rods, Cams, etc And how much boost should I push?

I did a search but it won't let me search "10"

btw I'm not a fan of NO2, I may throw a setup in there for S&G but not really use it.

I believe you misunderstood the context of it. From my understanding it is in refrence to people who haven't ran 12's yet and are wanting to run 10's. Another words you can't go from a stock DSM to Sheps car ;)

But for $hits and giggles:

IF you do in fact start building a 10/11 sec car ( WHICH IS MORE THE DESCENT BTW) then go with the biggest injectors you can. Especially if you are going to run E85. And you might as well step up to the Bosh 044 pump with an inline 255. And if your're dropping all that money for reputable parts else where then you might as well get a reputable IC.

My personal thoughts are that you should do a little bit more researching for things rather than posts like this. Because in the end your going to end up getting flamed more than Satan.

Here is a good place to start http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=2gtupgrades

The "Running 10's when you haven't 12's" is a joke. You probably won't run 10's if you haven't hit 12's.

So you currently have a 1g n/t throttle body on there - I haven't heard of that before...?

There are quite a few packages for the bottom end to suit your needs. The amount of boost you'll want to run completely depends on this bottom end and the compression ratio you're looking at - 25psi would probably be a good place to start for those kind of numbers.

The top end, you're main concern is whether this vehicle will be street-able or not. You can use 280's/FP3's or something equivalent for cams will give you top end power, but your idle will be horrible.

In short, figure out where you want your primary power band to sit. Will you be revving high or looking for a stroker kit?

Yea, forgot the deatails.

I'd prefer to keep this a street (semi-legal) car. I haven't run 12's yet, but I did stumle uppon a buildable engine that I can build in my spare time/money then drop it in wen the time comes, with the bolt ons.

Hmmm, bad idle...maybe I'll just go I-vtec (that was a joke)

I'd like to keep the 1.999 mabe go to a 2.001 but I wouldn't stroke it...that's not my job ;) LOL

Wow, first off if you plan on running e85 on 850's your dreaming. Think about inline fuel pumps, lsd's, go with a dogbox(not the brand). Act 2900. You know what i don't want to seem like i'm wasting my time but maybe you should read these forums a little more before you're thinking about running tens.

That's why i ask, I've heard 850's are sufficent for E85, I'm guessing I'll need something like 1000's? Car came with an LSD (I love my orange sticker) And Jack is the only Man that can touch my tranny...plus I can save on shipping. I've been reading the forums for 4 months, and if you look up ricehunter/emoguitarboy on co.dsm, rmdsm, source, tuner and talk, i've been answering most of the noob questions, I'm just trying to get a little info before I start building my "spare engine"

My apologies to daaekness92, I was frustrated and I am aware of how much this might cost.

The timer starts now. (To see how long it takes for a mod to lock this thread)

:beatentodeath:

Car came with an LSD (I love my orange sticker) I imagine this is the stock one. I'm sure oldman420 is talking about a upgraded one. Bottom line as I said in post #2 start using the search feature.

Ok there are a few problems.

It will take EXTENSIVE engine and transmission work.

You will need thousands in supporting fuel mods.

You will also have to invest several hours at a dyno to get your tune right(this will also cost several hundred dollars)

But, the most important thing is driving, NOBODY can just jump in a race car and run tens, this is why it is very important to work your way into the tens from higher numbers.

However! thats not to say that you cant build a block that can handle a ten second car and build the supporting mods as you go. if thats your plan then look into either a 2.3L stroker kit, or a 4G64 block.... www.slowboyracing.com has alot of good stuff.

I know I can't do it over night, its an eventual goal. I was hoping to try to do it on the 4g63 6-bolt. I'm just looking for a place where to start on the internals of the engine. Right now my goal is 11's with the eventual 10's.

Go to the top of the page, click on "members" and then select 1/4 times. Then click till you start seeing 10 and 11 sec times. Browse through their profiles and study what mods they have on. It worked for me. Good luck.
