I'm a little confused on this. I'm doing a timing kit replacement and I was wondering how hard it will be to change out my cams and how I would go about doing this? I also want to paint my cam gears as well.

With the timing belt removed the only thing in the way is the valve cover. The cam is held in place by the cam caps.

I'm also replacing my valve cover as well. Is it possible to paint my cam gears in its original position?

Well you are replacing your cams so it makes sense to paint them while you have them out but to answer your question yes.

I would recomended picking up a copy of the FSM. They have step by step cam removale procedure along with all the torque specs.

Also dont mix up the cam caps or your gonna have a nightmare on your hands
