Hey guys I have been a lurker on here for a while now and I got another question.

How could you make a 2G as light as possible? I know to gut it, carbon fiber, and to get rid of things that you dont need in your engine bay (A/C and heat etc.). But i mean like your actually underneath, your axles and other things is there a metal that has a very hight weight to strength ratio that car parts could be made out of and that could handle alot of power? Thanks.

And I never said I am going to do this, I am just curious.

Under the car, not really, interior parts can go, or you can gut as much as you can, trim pieces, speakers, and such.

Gut the hatch and get rid of the heavy seats. Also lighter wheels a/c delete nothing really under the car maybe I lighter exhaust. Not much gain of taking wait from the drivetrain part, maybe ask david buscher if he made anything for 2g drivetrain wise to reduce weight.

Completely strip the car, remove the engine and drive train, and then roll the shell down a hill. Light

In all seriousness, go ahead and try to remove the sound deadening, spares, rear seat, speakers, AC, Climate control, etc.

Sprung weight can be cut by basically doing what you mentioned, gutting the car, using CF/race glass, and getting rid of all creature comforts. Magnus makes a chromoly rear subframe for the 2g, if you've got the coin for it.

Rotating mass can be cut on the drivetrain parts mentioned above (unsprung weight), you could also get a lightened flywheel/clutch assembly or knife edged/butchered crank.

LOL! Rotating mass like wheels, lug nuts etc 1Lb = 10Lbs - stationary weight
