how to identify different heads???

hey guys im new to this site sorry if im posting in the wrong place but i just got my first dsm ive always been a car guy but have never had any of these. how can i tell if my head is a 1g or a 2g head. guy i bought it from said it was a 2g head but i dont really believe him. help please?

One way is to look at the intake manifold side of the head. A 2g will have smaller ports where-as a 1g will have larger ones.

The top head is off of a 1g. The bottom; a 2g. I hope this helps you.
