Hey Guys!

I found a long block engine for my sons 1996 eclipse that we picked up. Im going to look at it this weekend but was wondering what i should look for or how to turn it by hand to make sure its a good motor. Its been pulled and guy claims he just did the timing belt and all the accessories belt prior to pulling it out.

You can do it a couple of different ways, I just did this myself. You can take the starter off and push the flywheel with a pry bar. Or you can put a socket on the crank pulley and use a breaker bar to turn it as well. I used the flywheel method on a 420a and turned it in a downward manner. Not sure about rotation on the 4G63/4 motors.
