I have been thinking about this lately as I'm going to be running a new turbo and figured I would like to get a thread started of results for turbo longevity. Please post especially if you have run the turbo for a long time- short time failures would also be very nice. If you guys can follow the format since everyone's setup is different, that will help with the results:
1. Amount of miles turbo lasted
2. Type of turbocharger and boost level
3. 6 or 7 bolt
4. BS or eliminated BS
5. Feed location and hose size/ Including restrictor if used. Also oil pressure if measured and where it is measured from
6. Type of oil drain and size
7. Crank case ventilation methods used
8. Type of oil used and weight
If anyone has more parameters to add to the list, let them fly!
I will start with my last 2g:
1. ~40,000 when I sold it and still in as good of shape as when it was bought brand new
2. FP Big28- 18psi
3. 7 bolt
4. BS
5. OFH, stock oil feed line/no restrictor
6. Stock drain
7. Mostly stock cc vent./~10k miles with a vented catch can
8. Mobile 1 5w-30
Don't be shy everyone

. It's not like the ebay turbo track record isn't 100% proven. Who's cheaper than us dsmer's
. After all I wanted more performance out of my ebay 16g than what the original 14b provided me. . . It blew before I got the airflow to the level at which I had my 14b. So I kept the turbine housing and used it on another used 14b and can now see over 30lb/min and not wonder if the turbo will blow or not.
a 50-50 success rate means the turbos cost twice as much as advertized. Save your self the second turboswap and buy a MHI for twice as much once.
