How long does your muffler last??

Last year I installed a 2.5" Racing Medallion straight through muffler. At that time it sounded so clean and smooth. A year later it sounds like a nasty fart that is downright foul. It is notcieably louder and doesn't have a nice smooth tone anymore. How about all of you guys and your mufflers...same thing?

Mufflers have a sort of "break-in" or "Break-down" period after awhile. It happens to most mufflers as the heat expands and contracts the muffler over time.

But most of the time on a Turbocharged vehicle the effect is opposite of what is going on with yours.

Your muffler should last quite some time. Most factory mufflers (cheap grade) last the lifetime of the vehicle. Only rust should cause you to get a new muffler.

after three and half years, my thermal r&d is still good. except for the fact that i upgraded turbo, swap motor, and stomp my cat out, it sounds a bit louder.
