As the title states, how long does your clutch normally last? Also, which clutch do you have and what approx. HP do you have?

I'm just curious how long a clutch normally lasts.

thats hard to answer everyone drive different. . are you hard on it dd it drag it like i side that a hard one. in my vr4 i replaced it about every 2 years due to driving hard road corse and drag racing and long trips. it was a southbend dxdf.

my car has no clutch right now so i cant tell you what clutch is is since i have not got one yet. as far as HP i dont know yet still building it.

It's more about how the car is treated. Most clutches will outlast the car they are installed in. As long as there is no major defect in the PP,flywheel, clutch disk there shouldnt be all that much of a problem. Most clutches are usually strong enough to handle between 50-75 more HP than stock.

i had 120K on my stock clutch before i replaced it and it really didnt need it, I had the trans out so I went ahead and install a new clutch so im with all of them its all on how you drive it

It is all about how it's driven and how much power it's making.

I've had a ACT2100 in my car for 2 years and 19,000 miles since I rebuilt my engine. It doesn't like to take 1-2 shifts at the track too well since I'm up in the 340hp area and that's about the max the 2100 is rated for. I don't have any particular problems with it as of right now other than it likes to slip at the track. And if I made a little less power I'm sure it will last a lot longer. But, I'm looking to replace it here within the next year or so. It's got about 20 1/4mile passes on it and countless 3rd and 4th gear highway pulls to and from work everyday.

Like I said... It doesn't need to be replaced as it's not slipping during every gear yet but I want to replace it because if I've outgrown the clamping ability and it's holding my 1/4 times back because of it.

Here's a vid of me at the track with an example of it slipping. In this vid listen to the 1-2 shift. I pounded that clutch pretty hard going into 2nd and all it did was slip.

the clutch will last depending on your driving
the harder you beat on the car the shorter the clutch lasts

what he said^^^^^

I have had clutches that seemed to never go out but then i have ad a couple that seemed to go over night

I bought a zoom 6puck sprung hub clutch off ebay and it lasted 2 months. springs fell out and disk material fragmented to peices. I dogged it out and it did not last long at all. My lightweight flywheel did not last long either. Whatever you do make sure not to cheap out on clutches and flywheel or you will have problems faster.

A good buddy of mine running an ACT2600 street disc in his daily-driven (and raced) 2G TSi AWD making somewhere in the 350-360whp range had about 4 years and 30k of driving including over 100 passes down the dragstrip on the clutch before the organic disc wore thin and started to slip.

He's since replaced the original organic disc with an ACT 6-puck sprung disc for a little more bite while using the same pressure plate and flywheel and the car is still on the road.
