Hot Upper Radiator Hose

Ever since I bought my car, I've noticed that the upper radiator hose is hot to the touch, while the lower radiator hose is cooler. I've replaced the radiator cap and the motor is not using any coolant. Temperatures never go above 1/2 on the temperature gauge. Is this something to be concerned about?

The hose is supposed to get hot. If your gauge reads hot and she pukes coolant, then I'd be concerned.

Nope, no coolant puking and the overflow levels don't change. I get a few gurgles on cooldown, but nothing more.

Andy, hope you're not mad for me making fun. The reason for the lower hose to be cooler than the upper is because the radiator flows from top to bottom. The coolant in the upper hose just exited the engine block and lower hose has just been cooled by the radiator.

Of course I'm not mad you goober. I had always thought that it was the lower that would be hotter and that's why I asked. Better to be safe than sorry eh?
