This idea comes from gixrmans hood vent mod on his 2G. I really liked the way it looked and the ability to vent unwanted heat from the engine bay. It took alot of time to lay it out so it cleared everything but I am happy with the results and thanks go to gixrman for the help. I still need to finish sanding and smoothing it all out but let me know what you think. Thanks Travis

I can understand and appreciate the responses about airflow but when you sit it in traffic which way does the heat go? UP . I am not so worried about it sucking in cool air as I drive. If it does great but my main purpose was to vent the heat. I am happy with the rsults and we will see how much my under hood temps drop. Here are a couple of more pics of it on the car and smoothed out. I still need to prime and sand the rest of the hood. Thanks to all for the replies.

that should help tremendously with under hood temperature and its a free mod other than the lovely labor. nice work.

^^^ I'm so gonna be taping yarn all over my talon this weekend :D

On a related note, looks like after all these years of neglect VIS is finally giving us 1GAs owners some love with three new CF hoods: Stock, EVO Style (with vents) and the Invader (whatever the hell that is) :dsm:

Nice work.
Have fun with all the sanding and prep work to get it ready for paint.

credit must be given for his work. good effort. you should record before and after underhood temps

Wow. That actually looks very good. I know you have alot of hours into it with the body filler and sanding. Filler is no joke, I know, I've used my fair share of it. Good job.

When you think about it, you chose the best way to lay out the vents..... some people think that you should have done it backwards.... and it would in fact induce a lot of air into your engine while driving BUT when it is raining it would be throwing A LOT of water all over your engine. The way you have it set-up right now the water would just slide over the vent.... so in my opinion it is POIIIIIFECT.

Again I'm not being sarcastic but what happens when the car isn't moving while it's pouring cats and dogs?

im pretty sure water gets in there but a lot of people (including me) have similar mods i think its called the greyforest hood mod. Anyway I've had it for a long time and had no problems with it.

Please explain how will massive amount of water pouring onto your turbo, exhaust manifold...etc. not be a problem, give us the details. Were you actually running so much power on your 420a (massive turbo upgrade with FMIC I would assume) which warrants such mod or is this purely an appearance mod at the expense of other possible issues. OP, how much power are you pushing and what are your thoughts on the questions I've raised?
