Hood vent mod, tell me what you think

I think it could have just done without that duct completely, but now that I look at it again... Hurry and paint it for a final answer :p

Edit: How much for one, LOL.

Looks sweet. The front two hood vents will look spectacular when painted. I don't like the NACA vent but, that is because I am a stickler for symmetry.

I like it .
the duct on the right needs to go or be farther on the right .

Looked right over post 12 the second time I read this. I have to give you major props on your craftsmanship. I'm very impressed. Good job! :thumb:

Now I see the purpose of the other vent.

I actually changed that duct like 6 times before being somewhat happy with it. I even thought about moving it over closer to the edge( thanks Raph) but that would require more hacking and some creative ducting to clear the strut tower. I'm still a novice with S/M work! Hoping to get it in a final primer state over the next 2 days. I'll try to do a write up soon. Y

I really wanted to keep it symetrical and rwally wanting to raise it up and inch or two and eliminate the turbo hump.

Definitly creative man...somthing looks funnyy about your bumper though..

At gixrman's suggestion I am throwing in a couple of pics of his mod idea that I did on my 1G. He was a great help with giving me extra pics of his so I could get mine very similar to the ones on his car.If you want more detailed photos or info check out my thread. Or contact me. I have alot of pics of the process that I used.

I like it, but I'm not sure about the NACA duct in that spot.
Maybe it would work better over the Air Filter area.

go back and read post#12 and follow the link and then you'll understand why the duct is were it is.

Great work!!!!!!
Now that I know its functional it makes the difference.
Form following function is the way to go.:thumb:

i like it a lot and i know your getting better air under the hood.... when are you available to do my hood

Looks good. Have fun in the rain.

The car is only driven on sunny days and spends most of its life in pieces. Sadly the hood was bent beyond repair 2 weeks ago during a test run when I forgot to latch the hood pins. I have a FG hood now that I am hacking up in somewhat the same fashion but with the NACA duct in the center. I will post up pics when I really get into this thing in a couple of weeks. I have a few other projects going on that I have to finish.

Thats a damn shame its destroyed. I am inspired to hack mine apart as well. Is there a link to where you have all your pics of the hood work? It'd be greatly appreciated by me & the DSM community everywhere. Thanks.

Damn..... i think that the hood looked sexy with the NACA vent where it is.... It looks mean as hell
