SO whast the general consensus on the H1C, is it just as good as the Hx35? Would there be different spool or top end etc?

There has been a lot of discussion about these holset turbos lately. Now we need to get some real numbers from these things. I got one coming, but I never got to try my t04e 60 trim. I just don't know why these things weren't explored as an option earlier?

I founnd and H1c for $150
and an almost new HX35 for $300

These things are cheap.

Here's some new pictures of our HX-35 Internal

I'll have my setup done and dyno'ed in about a week I'm using a hx35/40 hybrid w/ a high flow 60mm compressor wheel.

I have some questions maybe some one can answer. "Map Width Enhancement" groove. This groove is machined into the inlet of the compressor housing to allow air to be fed to the second set of blades on the compressor wheel.

How does this work? The hx35 that I have has groves but they don't go all the way throught. Is this something that you guy's are doing to the turbos after you get them?

What is the diffrence between the hx35 that I have and the HX35W? On the holset lable directly on the turbo it say's customer 3537136-00-12-07. last six digits look like a date just wondering if this indicates the date my turbo was produced. some of these hx35 seem to be a tad bite diffrent.

The grooves go to the blades you would need a mirror and good angle to see them. hx35 would be a turbo that did not come with a wastegated turbine housing and hx35w would be wastegated.

I've never heard of any HX-35 with out the grooves.

Someone needs to source these HX-35 CHRA's used or remanned and come out with a $6-700 turbo upgrade. There's some money to be made there.

I am about to buy a HX35 from an 01 ram with 30K miles on it for $300 + shipping, are there any other places to get the turbos cheaper?

Also, anyone know what the stock wastegate is rated to (psi)?
The factory setting is 23psi but I don't know what the max psi is.

Damn, so bullseyes actuator is a must with this turbo, too bad its soo expensive, im gunna try adapting one off ebay.

Here's one using a stock actuator. His MBC ran his to 30+, pegged the gauge out and thought it would be best to let off.

Just becareful what acutator that you get off ebay. You need at least a 15lb, a 22 lb is much better. Some of the ones off ebay are 3-7 lb ones and you will not be happy with they kind of boost control those give you.

it has the groove but thet just don't go all the wat through. I took the compressor cover off.

Must be an odd part number, I'm not sure why you wouldn't have grooves machined in it.

This is exactly what are Holset rep had to say about your lack of Map Width Enhancement Grooves.

My question:

I thought all HX-35's had the Map Width Enhancement groove cut in the inlet?

His response:

"Most, but not necessarily all. Some of the non-wastegated and earlier, low power units didn't have MWE."

Can you get the hx-35/40's with OUT that "lip" on the outlet?
