high knock counts with no boost

ok I am basically running stock right now. I am getting ridiculous high knock counts and im not boosting. I had the logger in monitor mode while driving and at about 10 vacuum under load the logger would read knock counts up to 20 and beyond. How is this possible? at idle the logger reads aroung 4-6 tima.

IT could be the knock sensor went bad. What kind of knock do you get when boosting?

idk i was scared to boost it with those readings, is it bad to drive it like this. IM taking it to the shop tomorrow and I guess im just wondering if its safe to drive it there like that? Its only about maybe 5-10 miles to get there. I also think my ignition timeing is the cause of this. What should i do, drive it with no boost and be really easy on it or have it towed there. An answer to this question really sonn would be much appreciated because I want to get it over there by tomorrow.

didnt mean to bump my own thread but I really needed an answer. Is it ok do drive it to the shop with these knock readings.

Check your knock sensor for oose coming out of it . If so its bad . Also check your harmonic balancer and make sure the rubbber is not seperating .. You could have a boost leak or base timing is off. Let us know

ok, well the shop said the valve timting was a little off. The crank pully notches would not line up with the timing cover. Thats why my ignition timing was off and the computer was advancing the timing too much. Does this seem logical?
