High Downforce eclipse body kit, gauging interest

One of the buyers of the body just threw the hood on a stock car to see how it was. He said the fitment was good but of course we cant make any guarantees, it was really meant for the full widebody. He also said the car runs 15 deg cooler and he needs a different thermostat now.

My Seibon Evo Vented hood fit about that good.
All that needs to be done is loosen the screws holding the fenders on and pull them in towards the hood.
I had almost 3/8" of an inch gap in the same locations as he, and when I was done, I got he gap down to 3/16"-1/8" and it looks hella flush yo! <--- LOL
 
Hey i was thinking and let me know if this is possible. Would it be possible to just buy the front bumper and front fenders only?

I'm not interested in the full kit. i just like the fenders and 1 piece front bumper, and the front lip.

He could always sell the design, Like he stated earlier, their a race team not a sales team, I'm sure some one who works with CF would buy it, seeing so many people are interested, But thats entirely up to him.
 
I suggested something similar to GT Fabrications (a CF vendor here) about the hood design being produced but he never responded. They are a race team though and the odds of these things ever being reproduced for resale are slim to none... I like it because its functional and looks good!

I need to weigh it. The super light kevlar or carbon stuff I have seen is in the 6lb range. This hood is more along the 13lb range (just guessing by holding it in my hands) but its made to be strong. It is way less flexible than those and is meant to be able to hold up to the aero loads (the hood does make a lot of downforce) at high speeds.

I lost 78 lbs off my car from my prototype parts when I installed this body!

And can you elaborate on this comparison to the scoote2 hood: "The vent angles are completely different, there are integrated ramps around the duct work that cause them to move more air out from under-hood."

Did you increase or decrease the angle of attack of the vents, and by how much? Any pics of those ramps you are referring to?

I want this hood this summer when I'm back in socal, but of course it depends on if you sell this item in isolation. :pray:

ez@2gnt; there is a huge huge list of differences between this hood and the scoote 2 hood they are not even close to be honest. Its a totally different hood even if it looks similar in photos. The only thing about it thats similar is the general shape of the ducts when looking at them only from the top side in a photo. that shape is fairly standard for SuperGT stuff.

All the ducting is different in depth, angle and structure, every dimension is different significantly. Fitment, materials, construction, reinforcements, shape of the hood top surfaces around the duct exits, the shapes around the headlights, it just looks kind of similar in a photo. You could not modify another hood to be like this... you would have to make your own molds like we did.
 
What's amazing is that you built the hood so that it could "support the loads that it will endure making downforces." So that means the pressure underneath the hood (i.e. engine bay) is actually lower than the air pressure over the hood at speed? That's amazing. I understand that nascar was able to do the same thing with their aero designs.

Hmmm... this also means that the airflow through those vents goes in the opposite direction from which I initially assumed.
 
and my set is here! :)

Winglets for the splitter, the canards, and the vertical slats for the rear overfenders are in a separate box. Oops I forgot to take a picture of the sideskirts...

I am working on it guys but it has to be done right. It has to fit right on stock fenders so it needs modifications and I know everyone is gonna want it in carbon for the looks and I have to be able to do it in carbon for around $700 and Im trying to see if that can even be done.
 
You can paint carbon. Id be all over this too. even at 13lbs I think its still about half the weight of a stock one.
