Help!

2 wire VSS on 2g in galant. Wire colors are blue/black with silver bands and black with silver bands. Which wires go where?

From doing stereos and some other electrical work you can look it up online for sure but i would think black blue silver is your positive and the black silver would be the ground wire. just my educated guess on that. let me know what you find

Now we're having a problem with the alternator. When its unplugged the engine runs fine, when we plug it in it starts to run rough and dies after a few seconds. Any ides?

hmm whats the function of the vss on the galant im not real in tune with the car but i cm good with cars so i might be able to help you on that. atleast you know its drawing power. what does it do if you swap the wires around?

VSS is good, but wiring for alternator is questionable.

ya are you sure the alternator is good? i would take it to be tested at autozone thats iwhat i do its free and make sure the wires are good it would suck to fry something. the vss is the vehicle speed sensor ??

Used original alternator at first, then replaced with known good one. Same problem, and yes, VSS is vehicle speed sensor

Problem solved. Needed the relay.

hmm its pulling some major voltage some where wonder if you put a meter on it and test the volatage your vss is pulling on alternator when its on and when its off somethings not right should not pull to much not a very big thing

VSS and alternator problems are not related. Found my VSS problem though... I was looking at the reverse sensor . Alternator problem was the lack of the relay.

Now we need to know which pin on the ECU sends power to the speedometer...

hmm that would be a thing for someone else or the good old internet i have not touched ecus yet but im sure i will have to later on down the road for my 90 talon tsi 1/8 drag car im building up
