Help with DP + O2 HOUSING

Hello friends. I need your help...

I'm about to do some ups in my 2G and I need to purchase a new DOWNPIPE and O2 Housing since I've already purchase a SRS 3' catback;

I will run a Ported EVOIII 16G and I have 2 Options for the DP + O2 HOUSING:

1) Oem O2 Housing + EBAY 2/5' = 3' Downpipe
2) Punishment Racing O2 Housing + PR full 3' Downpipe

In the oprion 1, some people say that the EBAY downpipes like Megan and No brand have a 2,5' inlet that connects to the stock o2 housing and it may cause a Bottleneck at the exhaus system

In the option 2, some people say that Stainless Steel O2 Housings tend to heat and crack more that the stock

I know a Punishment Racing Downpipe won't fit in the stock O2 housing, am I right ? So, will running option 1 lower the potency noticiably ?

For your current mods, the 2.5 to 3 is enough for a 16g, and enough for most dsmers.If the price is alot cheaper, just go with that.Remember the 2g option for a DP from PR is the cat delete, and the 1g option is shorter,to accept a cat.

2.5 to 3, I did the same myself No need for the higher price tag when the 2.5 to 3 was right in front of me..

So choice is up to you in the end..I'm just saying..

PR says there downpipe fits with stock o2 housing but I never got mine to fit.

Honestly I dont see how the down pipe being 2.5 for 3 inches is a bottle neck at all. All o2 housings outlets are 2.5.

The PR downpipe was a pain for me. Wrong angle at the cat back side. Tough to get bolts for o2 housing because of the fat 3 inch inlet. I had to buy an ebay o2 housing in order to run it.

I have the ebay DP on my DD and it comes on and off very easily. No fitmit issues.

stock o2 housing on a megan 3" downpipe. nothing wrong with the stock o2 housing and you can always port it if you feel the need.

the megan DP is basically the same thing as the ebay DP except its 180$ish and the ebay one is cheaper. im getting ready to run the same turbo and according to my research our stock o2 housing is plenty its always an option to do a little porting if you feel the need. the evo 3 16g doesnt really need to be ported imo. it is a small and potent turbo thats fast to mid range spooling so porting it isnt going to do you whole lot of good. if youre worried about lag go external wastegate.

The Punishment Racing down pipe actually has a 2.5" flange welded to the 3" pipe. I'm pretty sure it will work with your OEM O2 housing. I didn't try that with mine since I'm running the 3" FP housing but I think it will work.

Well, in the PR site they clearly state that the DP does not fit the stock O2 Housing...

I have this same question and I have just ordered the Punishment Racing 3" Downpipe.

I have been in contact with them via email and they specifically say it will NOT bolt up to the stock 02 housing and the megan racing 02 has a lot of problems hooking up to also.

I am running on the stock turbo but have a Holset HX40 on its way

I was thinking the PR o2 housing would work, anybody tried that setup before?

Or anyone know what o2 housing works good with the PR DP that won't have fitment or clearance issues?

You are correct that it won't fit the stock o2 housing. I have a punishment racing o2 housing mvs recirculating package and it fits great with my punishment racing downpipe. I'm on a MHI 16g.
