Hello all, I recently got a 1992 eagle talon tsi awd and I have since been doing maintenance on it so far I have replaced all te timing belt parts new belts, bearings and tensinor with a brand new oem mitsu one off of extremepsi.com the rest of the stuff I got was gmb evergreen, a little off topic but has any one ever had any experience with them? but back on topic im replacing the carrier bearings and my question is can I re use the self locking 27mm nuts that hold the carrier bearings on or do these absolutely have to be replaced also.. I have over heard some people say that these cannot be reused? is this true or just a myth?

31096f is the nut I am talking about shown in this diagram of the 1g drive shaft broke down

It is a locking nut that is used. It is highly recomended to just buy a new one and replace it. The price is not that much and you know it is 100% good to go.

Best to replace anything you can especially if you don't know the condition of it do it once and you wont have to return to that thing, mines had lots of wear so it was all replaced.

well guys i apperciate the advice but heres the thing i need this car up and going so i can get back and forth to work i dont have time to mess with ordering 2 petty lock nuts and wait weeks for em to come in the mail.. im just going to use red lock tight on the threads and tourqe the piss outta em and be done with it... i think this will work just fine...
