:banghead: So I just got done rebuilding my throttle body, all new seals gaskets, and sparkling clean. Everything was put back together and adjusted properly, but my throttle plate seems to be sticking open a bit. I just removed the CC and put in a non-cruise cable. My original problem was a boost leak and bad shaft seal in the TB. It would idle at around 3k when warmed up and around 1100 cold. After the rebuild upon first start it idled fine at around 750 even after it warmed up. As soon as I revved it up it stuck around 1500. So I closed the throttle by hand and it stayed fine back to around 750. So what it is doing is staying open a bit after it is opened. If closed by hand it idles fine. So I went back over everything. The throttle cable is good with a bit of slack (not preventing it from shutting). TPS is adjusted properly although I have no way of checking the ecu other than CEL's. Throttle springs are wound properly (I made many reference marks). No leaks (pressure tested). The only thing it seems to be is the throttle plate is sticking inside the TB. I scored the plate and it is in exactly as it came out. (checked and rechecked, moved freely) What can possibly be doing this? I'll be pulling it back off later this evening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

the throttle plate isn't aligned correctly. getting this right is probably the toughest part of the rebuild.

It's the plate, had the same thing happen to me after I rebuilt my first one. The plate would start sticking into the TB housing itself and would cause a good bit of resistance at the pedal after the plate closed.

Take it off, undo the screws on the plate and try to recenter it by opening and closing the plate. Just do that a few times allowing it to snap closed and it'll center it'self pretty good.

I would check the idle switch. Besides being used by the ECU to indicate a closed throttle, it is also the stop that keeps the throttle plate from slamming shut into a binding situation. Out of 3 TB's I've had laying around here (including one fresh rebuild by a shop), all of them had some stickiness at full throttle closed until the idle switch was properly adjusted.

It's a very finicky little bastard too. 1/16 of a turn is all it takes to be properly adjusted or out in left field.

he has a 2g, the throttle stop is just used for only that. the closed throttle switch is in the tps. improper adjustment of a throttle stop will only cause it to stick when it's closed. his is getting stuck when it's open. like liquidx mentioned, snapping the throttle shut is a good way to get it centered.
