I said they were the same metalirgical blank, not the same rod. What each company does with the rod is most likely different. But in terms of material their the same.

My scats came with arp2000 2 years ago

If stock 1g rods can go 9.2 o don't see why any forged rod couldn't hold much more. Eagle, manley, scat, any of them should do 1000hp in my mind if the stock 6 bolt has handled what it has.

And I have seen H Beam let go with cars making less then 500HP. Tune has alot to do with it. The Big Four all buy from the same blank company.

hmmmm ive never heard of arias, but I have heard people here and there using ross pistons. What does everybody else think? I want to get a majority vote here(I know that's probably going to be hard LOL)
Arias was the first to do pistons for imports, google Nick Arias and All of the big boys of SRT/Toy/LS/ guys use them.

MAGNUS put Ross Pistons on the map with 4G63 guys

I understand that but what I am saying is if one Scat rod is 15.21 the next would be 15.30 and 15.10. That is why I stop using them or selling them. Just didnt want to take a chance on blowing up my motor or someone else. and At that time they were using the 8740 rod bolt

I'll be using ross pistons on my next build with possibly magnus rods.

Tuning has EVERYTHING to do with EVERYTHING.
Good to hear..If your getting the rods from them, you may want to get pistons also as they use the 22mm 6 bolt rods to work with there rods. Just tell him you know mr whitehorse and he will get you want you need. and NO THAT ISNT A JOKE

Who's mr white horse? I'm 40 mins from marco.

Exactly, additionally I've never seen a used wiseco, dirtbike, snowmobile, or car, that didn't have the pin tight in the boss from the skirts collapsing. I put JE's in this motor and it's perfect.

Yep, had an engine fail when the pin pulled out of the piston, wasn't pretty at all. All 3 of the remaining pistons were cracked around the pin boss. I have another used set of wisecos and the pins are super tight in their bores and at least two of the pistons are cracking around the pin boss. I have another brand new set of standard 9:1 wisecos and I'm really tempted to sell the things before I build my next motor.

I was thinking manley rods and wiesco pistons, but after seeing here I might be considering manley rods with ross pistons.
I was really surprised they were that bad as well man. After experience from the guys posting, makes you think twice. Im wondering if wiseco HDs have better quality as well. JE and arias have been at the top, magnus has custom pistons made for them by Ross.

You don't need to run forged pistons and rods for that setup. Stock will hold up fine for those modifications.

Last year I tore down my block and replaced the rods and pistons after crank walk...I went with Eagle H rods and wiseco pistons, stock bore...new crank with all new oem oil and water pump, seals, clevlite bearings and a bse kit. Placed a Magnus 6 bolt ported head on with FP exhaust mani and I love this set up...I have had no issues with starting except my 16g turbo took a dump this past week.

In Your Eyes.. We can go back and forth on what stock stuff can do. ( I Ran 11.0 with stock pistons NOT 2GEN n stock rods with arp in a auto way back in 96' But 99% of DSM guys dont have a ####ing clue on what there doing when it comes to tuning and forged stuff will hold up better.

I gotta say, ive looked at a lot of profiles and see alot of people running wisecos.
I think the hds will be fine and im still planning on using the 10.5:1's until some people can tell me that wiseco HDs have a defect or are no good.

I think they were referring to the non HD versions. I hope.

Just checked quickly and i cant find Ross pistons higher than 9:1.

Everybody thinks if a part isn't on a website, it doesn't exist. Pick up the phone, and call them.

Nice. Thanks. Maybe ill look in to ross. Whoa...... ok, just double checked. Damn, expensive. Im not building for 1000hp. Ill have to ask people running wiseco HDs if theyre really that bad. When i get some more info then i can justify spending the extra 200.
Thank you for the link though, 10:1 would be perfect for my build. Ill keep these in mind

These are what im looking at http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?mode=add&productid=23856&cat=1586&page=&amount=1
$520. Not bad.

I will open my own thread about these pistons when the time comes. Still at least 60 days out

I don't think the HD's are bad, but the standard ones are sooo bad, and wiseco was a shit ass about it when mine failed with only like 6000mi on them, that I will never ever run anything wiseco again.

Search around and find some JE's on the cheap, or ross's or mahles, or arias. It would be nice if there were some $300 pistons, that were decent. I honestly feel like wiseco's would fail in a stock setup.

You want to check out yellowbullet about what people think of Wisecos. and the only time people know is when shit blows the #### up.

Yea, my Mahles took a crap thats the only reason im not reusing them. well, actually i could, rings cracked in cyl 2 after 4k miles. I dont blame the pistons. The machinist has a track record.
Anyway, yea im not cheaping out one bit. I have money. Ive spent quit a bit on my car already.
Enough to get the job done right. Pistons in general are all around the 500 dollar mark. Im sure there are exceptions but many people on this site have had success with a number of brands. JE has 10;1 I believe and theyre not 730 for a set, that sounds about reasonable to me.
Edit: Just clicked on about 20 profiles in the dyno challenge in the 6-700whp range. Wisecos are common, but barely. Its a wide variety of brands.

Almost anyone can get a Account with wiseco, Because you can sell them and make money with them without doing a buy in. Friend as a moblie detailing truck and sells wiseco from his track. dont know how long some of you guys been around DSM but if you remember Pistons seem to sell on what big name is using them at that time. first it was JE then Ross then Venolia then JE again then Wiseco then Manley. I have no dog in this fight and Arias are just better in my eyes and 20 plus years of doing motors even better then the Customs I had built by another Brand.
