I never realized how much of a PITA this was gonna be, uggg. I got the front slide in mount in ok, it didnt wanna go in very well, but I guess it'll do. Now I'm working on the rear, i got all the rubber out, but I cant seem to get the metel sleeve to budge. Help please

The best way to get it out is with a hydraulic press. If you don't have one (I didn't when I did mine) here is another way. I knocked all the rubber out of the middle. Then I took a hacksaw and assembled it with the blade going through the center of the mount. I proceeded to cut two grooves in the old metal sleeve, almost all the way through to the mount itself. Be careful you don't cut through to the mount. I cut those two grooves about 3/8 inch apart. Then I used a 3/8 inch wide chisel, and put it between those two grooves, between the sleeve and the mount wall. Do you follow? Now just hammer that strip of the sleeve out of there, it should peel up as you hammer on the chisel. When it is out, the rest of the sleeve just falls out. Sand any rough edges and paint the mount if you like, then put your prothane in there:thumb: That's how I did it.

Thanks very much for your input. I've already followed half your directions LOL. I've knocked the rubber out and started using a hack saw assembled as you said, and I've cut one good groove now ill just cut another one close to it as you say and knocj the sleeve out thanks very much ill get back on it in the morning

Ok all the mounts are done, I have yet to install the rear, but i got the prothane installed in my spare. the 2 sides certainly straightened the font mount out perfect. Started the car and wow the vibration is pretty cool. I can really feel it when i turn the headlights on and the motors under load. Its like I'm sitting in a old chevy with a built motor :D I havent drivien anywhere yet, but I will tomorrow.

Ok new problem, when I dropped the motor into the car a few months i was putting in the rear mount in and one of the bols snapped off into the frame. The rear mount uses 3 bolts, 2 on one side 1 on the other, the one that snapped was the lonar on the one side. Seems the only way to really get to drilling it out would be to remove the tranny. Any advice?

Oh and I would never do this again! Unless I had access to a press, I spent at least 2-3 hours on each mount except the front. I think I may have slightly bent the tranny mount and I have quite a few bruises from accidentally hitting myself with the hammer OWWWW!!

:dsm: dude i had such a hard time with my 2g insert install just like you i said screw the back one for now ill have to take apart alot of crap to get to it so ill wait anyways i was searching forever to find out how to do the passenger side mount cuz i had it unbolted with no problem it just wouldnt clear the top of the bolts to come out but after being stupid and trying a bunch of dumbass ideas i finally figured it out lower the subframe for those who dont know just losen the front bolts dont completely remove and be sure to have a jack under it just in case u back it out too far. the subframe is the long black bar going across to the rear it has 2 large bolts side by side. well i like the vibration :thumb: and the difference is amazing even my tranny is working a hell of alot better i used to get alot of vibration when starting out i hated it but now all of those little problems are cured and i feel the power hitting the ground now for a fwd 2g prothane inserts has to be a must. id say one of the first mods to do if you dont mind the vibration you'll love the difference in how your car reacts to your motor and your tranny (and the vibration really isnt that bad it just shows u what u need to tighten :dsm:
