Megan Racing Turbo Back exhaust

I was going to go with the VRSF, but unfortunately their out of stock and not going to be in stock until March, and since this is my DD, I need one ASAP.

I've heard good things about the CXracing ones, but have no idea what my other choices are. Budget friendly please, no $1,000+ FMIC's please.

Punishment Racing's FMIC is pretty affordable. Why do you need a FMIC ASAP? You can run the stock side mount with the small 16G until the VRSF comes back in stock. I was actually thinking of getting the Punishment Racing kit but it looked to me that the VRSF kit had a better design on the end tanks.

When I put on the Megan Racing exhaust, I started getting boost creep. And everyone basically told me to do the mods to support the creep. Before, I could control the boost from 12psi on, now it boosts at a minimum of 20psi. Which of course the side mount can't handle without heat soaking.

Also, just ordered a new clutch (Stock clutch is gone), and would like the convenience of installing everything at once, instead of taking everything apart, then take everything apart again a month or two later.

I just don't have the time to put the car down frequently to do several installs/fixes. I'd much rather take a weekend or week off, do everything at once, then be good.

Thanks, I forgot about punishment racing, I checked out there FMIC awhile back.

The VRSF FMIC kit allows you to keep your fog lights....Just saying

well, if you need one asap...

ETS kit goes on extremepsi.com for $700 I beleive thats under you budget.. Fast shipping!

too bad on the luck out of VRSF kit...

I almost bought one a while back, but I didn't like that it didn't fill the grill completely. I don't know, maybe I'm nitpicking. But I have heard really good things about that kit.

You will need to make a custom bracket for 1 of the fog lights to work. Who uses fog lights anyways??? :p

True, the punishment racing one allows you to keep your fog lights without any custom bracket I believe.

I use my fog lights all the time LOL. I live in the country so their good when it's foggy out (Which is a lot) and helps spotting deer.

Doing research...It looks like it comes down to this:

ETS is more expensive with less cfm.

BUT,

ETS has a much better fitment and lifetime warranty and seem to have super high customer service.

This is a $300.00 difference though...crap, I hate making decisions.

im buying a punishment racing one myself. my buddy had one on his 1g and fitment was great on it. even came with a knock off bov

This is what is stopping me from ordering the punishment racing one. About 3/10 people are saying how horrible the fitment was while I am yet to find anyone complain about the fitment on the ETS one.

I've read of instances where the BOV hit the hood from being so high, to the J-pipe being at a bad angle and rubbing against the radiator fans, and people having to shave off the radiator.

There seems to be more fitment issues on the 2g though rather than the 1g.

Think I'm going with the ETS street kit. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Before you go ahead and spend all that money on the ETS kit, at least take my opinion into consideration.....

ETS makes EXCELLENT products. I plan on upgrading my FMIC to their race core as soon as I get the money. HOWEVER, with your setup, ETS cores are probably OVERKILL for your setup. If I was in your situation I would simply upgrade the side mount to either the Dejon Super sidemount or a Supra sidemount with the end tanks flipped.

First thing you SHOULD do, is get a GM AIT (Air Intake Temp) sensor and install it at your TB elbow and log it in DSMLink or get a gauge, whatever is easier. This way you can see the temp difference from pre-turbo (MAF) and after the IC (AIT). This will show you how efficient your IC is, temperature wise.

Now the punishment and cxracing kits are ok, and for your set up probably wouldn't be too bad, but I know you will have to do some cutting and modifying to get the kit to fit. The cores are poorly designed and they are cheap! You get what you pay for. I have a SSAC kit (same as punishment and cxracing pretty much) and it is a VERY thick core, but it is still not doing a good enough job as I keep getting knock up top due to high intake temps.

LASTLY, installing a front mount intercooler tends to produce temperature issues in hot weather and traffic. The FMIC blocks a lot of air flow to your radiator. So say goodbye to throwing on your A/C in 100 degree weather in traffic!

So again, I recommend upgrading your sidemount. Less hassle and should suffice for your application.
