Well i just want to start off by saying i don't want to spend a whole bunch of money on a exhaust, but i want a 3 inch exhaust on my car. I have a 14b on my car right now by March looking to go to a 16g, and stay that way for awhile. Was looking at the PR exhaust systems 470 can go from the down pipe back, but wasnt to sure on what o2 housing to go with. Would like to see what you guys think would be best

My exhaust was done by a muffler shop. Just go and say you need a full 3" and get a muffler of your choice. I have a magnaflow and I like the sound of it. As for o2 you can port your stock one and it will work good or an evo3. I've always had a tubular o2 housing though punishment racing has a lifetime warranty so if it breaks you get a new one.

I've heard lots of good things about Thermal R&D. But, keep in mind if you're going to throw a 3" exhaust on your car you will most likely run into boost creep. So porting the turbo/o2 housing/larger flapper should be considered as well.

The 3" Dejon with a resonator and the dual tip magnaflow muffler sounds fantastic in my opinion. Big time anti-rice.

+1 on no need for different o2 housing. You could even just port the stocker to near-evo3 specs.

Bunch of mixed opinions kinda feel like im opening a bag of jelly beans why cant everyone agree with something like the o2 housing LOL. No one really commented on the PR, but saw couple people liking the magnaflow muffler. I'm just thinking this way aluminium is aluminium, am i right? PR was the cheapest, and thats honestly why i had my eye on there product.

I allso want to ask what the effect of me running a open downpipe other then it being loud would be? Would it be better then my stock exhaust is what im getting at i guesse until i can finish it off, or should i just wait, and do it all at once? Either way still tell me what would go on with the open downpipe

Open downpipe wont hurt a thing beside your sanity. It really is loud. I only recommended the Dejon because I have heard it in person, and really like it. Plus, the dual tip doesn't look over the top like the 4 or 5 inch tips do, IMO.

Would the open down pipe perform better then my stock exhaust though?

stock o2 housing, and PR from then on?

I was running a 14b with a full 3" PR exhaust with a stock unported 2g o2 housing and I was getting boost creep like crazy. Boost was set at 13-14 and I was getting 20+ over 4,500 RPMs. I recently installed a megan racing o2 housing and the boost creep is greatly reduced. I would definitely recommend wither porting the stock housing or going with an aftermarket tubular one.

Would the open down pipe perform better then my stock exhaust though?

Would it perform better? Yes. Would it be annoying, illegal, and attract a lot of cops? Yes.

Aluminum may be aluminum, but that hardly matters when shopping for a stainless steel exhaust. At the power levels you will be experiencing you should be more concerned with how unrestricted the exhaust flow is and not how big the pipe is.

I have an open downpipe, it has gotten very old to hear, but I've never had any trouble from police whenever I've done something "illegal" with exhausts. Then again the rest of my stock exhaust is hanging on there.

Im talking about a straight up open down pipe. My friends 1g got pulled over every night he brought his car out because his exhaust was "too loud and illegal"

I think a distinction needs to be made here. Because I feel people are confusing open downpipe with no cat.

When I heard open downpipe I assumed that he was referring to running only a downpipe and nothing else.

The guy that originally brought up the whole open downpipe thing also told the op to get an ebay exhaust so I'm not sure what he was referring to.

ebay for your exhaust. run an open downpipe.

Me too. I don't know many people who are dumb enough to do this on a public road though.
